What is a strategy ?
A Strategy
• A strategy is a careful plan or method.
• “It’s my next move”.
Rubric
• Strategist- can set a goal, develop a plan, and
begin action on their playbooks. Strategies
improve our lives for the future.
Games require strategies
• Coaches, players, performers, and even
spectators are always strategizing the next
play.
Developing a strategy
• People look into the future and develop a
game plan for success.
Strategies also require
• Visualization (see) and Action (do).
• What strategy would you use to get through
the maze?
Written Strategies
• Setting goals and writing a plan of action are
great ways to get started on healthy living.
• Coaches have playbooks to help them prepare
for their next game.
• Can you create a playbook for your healthy
lifestyle? What would you include in that
playbook? Look to the future.

Your task #1
• Today you will participate in a basketball
game. The scenario is this:
• The game is tied. There are 5 seconds on the
clock. You have called your last timeout to
come up with a plan for your team.
• Create a strategy/plan using the clipboard,
dry-erase board, or ipad. Then put that plan
into action to try and win the game.
Your Task #2
• This is a game of life. Your strategy is to
develop a plan to begin a healthy lifestyle.
• Make a list of 2 goals and then a list of 2 ways
to accomplish those goals.
• It can be goals you set now or 10-15, minutes,
days, months, or years from now .
• What strategies will be needed in order to
reach your goals?
