The Anglo Saxons

Home Learning – Year 4 T2: The Anglo Saxons
This is the home learning activity sheet for Term 2. We would like your
child to complete all of the essential activities and complete 4 tasks from
the topic-based list during the whole term, or surprise us with something
else related to our topic and learning in class! We will celebrate the
children’s achievements and activities in class throughout the term.
RE: Research the Anglo Saxons’ Gods and beliefs – you could make a poster about a Pagan festival or a fact sheet.
History: Research the Anglo Saxons. E.g. What happened to England when the Anglo Saxons arrived? Where did
they come from and how did they develop and change once they settled in England? Who ruled them?
Art: Draw/paint a picture of something from the Anglo Saxons time e.g. an Anglo Saxon banquet, boat, village
or funeral. Create a helmet or some Anglo Saxon armour! Try weaving or dying, using the Anglo Saxon method.
Science: Research different potions and products used by the Anglo Saxons. E.g. dye, medicine. Could you
ESSENTIAL
create any?!

Write an Anglo Saxon Poem e.g. a kenning. Imagine you have come to England as an Anglo Saxon invader,
write a letter home to your family.
DT: Design and label an outfit for an Anglo Saxon fighter, villager or slave. Design and create an outdoor or
board game. Make a 3D model of an item from Anglo Saxons times e.g. a shield, a brooch, a village. Find an
Anglo Saxon recipe and get cooking!
Geography: On a map of the UK (or draw your own), label the different names or cities, towns and areas from
the Anglo Saxon period.
