Microsoft Outlook 2010 Problems Moving Items from your Mailbox to Personal Folders A Personal Folder is a singles file. It has a .pst extension. PST (personal folder) files have a size limit applied to them. You will know when you have reached your limit when you will be prevented from moving items from your mailbox (stored on the Exchange Server) to your Personal Folder (PST file (stored on your hard drive)). If you experience this problem then you must create a new personal folder. Move Items from One Personal Folder to Another 1. 2. 3. 4. Expand your original Personal Folder Right click on the folder you want to move Choose Move “folder name”… In the window that appears, choose the New Personal Folder you created earlier by clicking on it 5. It will return the message “The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If problem persists restart Outlook”. This message appears because your Personal Folder has reached its size limit. To rectify this problem: When deleting items you should select the message (or messages) to be deleted. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, press the Delete key on keyboard simultaneously.
