Two trophies contribute to a fantastic year for the integrated resort
(Macao, Dec. 23, 2014) – Two Sands China executives won trophies at the inaugural Hotelier
Awards China: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Hotelier of the Year and Housekeeping
Hotelier of the Year. The awards went to Syed Mubarak, Director of Sustainability at Venetian
Macau Ltd. and Dina Angelucci, Executive Director of Housekeeping at Conrad Macao, Cotai
Central and Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central. Meanwhile, Janet Lim, Executive Director of
Hotel Operations at The Venetian Macao, was chosen as the first runner-up in the
Hotel/Resident Manager of the Year Award.
Presented at a ceremony in Shanghai Dec. 11, The Hotelier Awards China recognises and
honours dedicated professionals who go above and beyond to make every hotel experience
memorable for each guest. The ceremony – a celebration of brilliance and the pinnacle of
appreciation of the people bringing life to a hotel – saw over 300 hoteliers and industry
professionals gather to see the results across 16 categories.
In its inaugural year, The Hotelier Awards received close to 300 applications from more than
100 hotel properties within 44 different brands throughout mainland China, Macao and Hong
Kong. The winners of each category were decided by a panel of independent experts through
a two-round process and were based on a combination of facts presented in their application,
personal interviews and testimonials.
“We are extremely proud that two of our staff members won such prominent awards at the
Hotelier Awards China. The awards are a great credit to their professionalism and dedication
in their respective fields,” said Gunther Hatt, Executive Vice President of Operations, Sands
China Ltd. “At Sands China we offer many training programmes for employee development,
leadership and professional growth.”
Dina has been with Conrad Macao since the hotel opened in April 2012. She is also part of the
team at Sands® Cotai Central, an integrated resort that is home to luxury hotels, retail,
convention space and entertainment, and is responsible for the public areas, cleaning and

waste management for the entire resort, as well as wardrobe operations which is the largest of
its kind in the world, servicing the needs of some 10,000 team members.
Syed has worked in a number of different fields including, facilities, manufacturing and
engineering, among others. His vast experience has allowed him to easily pinpoint areas
within the hotel where operations can be optimized, all the while complying with social
responsibility policies. Under his supervision as Director of Sustainability, The Venetian Macao
was able to secure several awards including the Green China Award 2014 and IMEX-GMIC
Green Supplier Award 2014.
