At the conclusion of the championships, a Queensland team will be selected to compete at the School
Sport Australia Championships in Adelaide from 1 to 10 December 2017.

(2) Students must nominate for each event they wish to be considered for. Student must enter best time and
also list when and where performed. These times must be recent and may be checked for accuracy.

All nominations should have a Team/Meet Manager printout attached and be verified by your
Swimming Club Secretary.
(3) There will be NO regional selection trial conducted. Please see https://fnq.swimming.org.au/ for upcoming
local carnivals. Swimmers are encouraged to use local carnivals and school carnivals to qualify for the
Peninsula Team.
(4) While non-club swimmers aren’t eligible to participate in local carnivals, Swimming Queensland offers the
‘Come and Try’ program that provides non-club swimmers the opportunity to participate at no cost in a
normal club night to record times. If this applies to you, please contact the Race Secretary at your local
swimming club to make arrangements.
(5) All nominations are to be submitted via email to Jemma McClafferty, Balaclava State School by 5pm on
Tuesday 21 February 2016.

SELECTION OF TEAM:
(1) Swimmers will be selected on nominated times- with fasted nominations given team selection preference.
(2) Swimmers must meet the time standard of at least one swimming event to be eligible for selection in
Peninsula Region Team.
(3) Once a swimmer has met one time standard and qualified for the Peninsula Team they may be eligible
for additional swims providing they are close to other time standards and there are no other qualified
swimmers. The purpose is for swimmers to have as many opportunities to race as possible and to have
Peninsula region represented in as many events as possible.
(4) Nominations by the Peninsula region are limited to the number of swimmers per event. The team selectors
will give the fastest nominated times preference and those swimmers outside the time standards will make
up the nomination pool. If additional swimmers are to be nominated, the swimmer must make the Additional
Swimmer Qualifying Time.
(5) In 10-12 State Championships, there is no limit to the number of events swimmers can participate in. We
would ask you to consider the timing and length of events swimmers nominating for. As late nominations to
replace withdrawals at the championships are not accepted.
TIMELINE OF SELECTION:
(1) Tuesday 21 February nominations close at 5pm. No late nominations.
(2) Wednesday 22 February team selectors meeting.
(3) By Tuesday 1 March, all successful and unsuccessful team members notified via Parent/ Guardian email as
listed on nomination form.
