Fit2Drive Year 11 Workshop: curriculum alignment
The Fit2Drive (F2D) Year 11 Workshop is a half-day session conducted in school with
all students in the year level, with small group activities facilitated by specially trained university
students. The workshop experience supports young people to make good decisions when faced with
risky driving situations, both as passengers in their interaction with peers and drivers, and in terms
of their future driving safety.
Pre and post workshop teaching activities have been developed to reinforce and extend the key
messages in the F2D workshop. These activities are designed for:



VCE English Units 1 and 2 Area of Study 3: Using language to persuade in
VCAL Reading and Writing
VCAL Personal Development Skills.
The workshop also covers aspects of VCAL Oral Communication.
The F2D Year 11 Workshop can also be used as a stimulus for work in:



VCE Legal Studies Unit 1
VCE Health and Human Development Unit 1: The health and development of Australia’s
youth (see also TAC Online Resources)
VCE Psychology Unit 2: Self and Other.
F2D as a part of a road safety education program
Research shows that to be effective, road safety education in schools needs to be ongoing, delivered
over time and developmentally appropriate. Schools interested in developing a Years 7 – 12 road
safety education program will find the matrices on the following pages a useful starting point.
The first shows how quality road safety education resources that are endorsed by the key Victorian
road safety agencies link to curriculum (AusVELS, VCE and VCAL).
The second matrix shows the road safety issues addressed in each of the road safety education
resources. It will assist you to plan the school’s road safety education program from Years 7 to 12
and to choose resources with the messages most relevant to the students.
Road Safety Education Secondary Resources – Links to curriculum
While F2D is the key program for Year 11 students, there are a range of other quality road safety education resources for students from Year
