Kilcock woman and
fiancee receive blessing at

by Kate Donoghue
A KILCOCK woman and
her fiancé had their
engagement blessed by
Bishop Denis Nulty at a
special ceremony in
Dublin on Valentine’s
Day (14th February).

Tim Boylan (Foxrock)

feast day.
Six years ago, the pair met in Bundaberg Australia while travelling. Tim recently proposed to Carol while they were out for dinner in Dublin.
“It was just time.” Tim said.
“We don’t have a date set just yet,” said Carol, “but it will
probably be next Summer”.
They plan to have the wedding ceremony in Carol’s hometown
at St Coca’s Church.
Carol works for Deloitte and Tim is a restaurant manager in
Dun Laoghaire.
At the blessing, Bishop Nulty released the 2016 ACCORD figures for marriage preparation courses and counselling sessions.
ACCORD is an agency of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference
which provides marriage preparation courses and counselling services.
Bishop Nulty, who is the president of ACCORD as well as
bishop for the Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin, spoke about how
the pervasiveness of technology is affecting new relationships.
“Tweets, texts and so on contribute greatly to the fractured
narratives heard at ACCORD sessions.”
Regarding relationships, 19% of ACCORD clients cite internet
use as a problem and 23% cite mobile phone usage and texting,
according to the organisation’s figures.
Fortunately, Carol and Tim don’t foresee this being an issue for
them.
“We’re not big social media users,” said Carol.
“We’re never on Facebook.”
Before concluding, Bishop Nulty extended his blessing “that
Valentine may bless all couples and all those who celebrate love.”

Moves made to contact owners of Foxhunter site
by Laura Mc Loughlin
SOUTH Dublin County Council are
urgently trying to make contact
with the owners of the Foxhunter
site in Lucan.
Residents in Hermitage Park
have lodged complaints with the
Council over the steel fence that
has been erected around the abandoned site.
Speculation has been growing
locally about who owns the site
after Avoca pulled out of building a
new store that would have created
50 jobs because of legal issues with
the premises.
Speaking to LIFFEY CHAMPION
on Wednesday (15th February) Cllr
Ed O’Brien (FF) said: “The latest
update is that the Council is trying
to make contact with the current
owners of the property.
“There is speculation that
Dunnes Stores has bought it but
that hasn’t been confirmed.”
Cllr O’Brien said residents in
Hermitage Park are asking the
Council to make contact with the
owners to discuss the fence which
backs onto gardens in the estate.
“The Council will investigate
what has been done there,” said
Cllr O’Brien.
“A steel fence was put up and it is
protruding over their back gardens.
“It’s unsightly.
“They will investigate whether
this was done legally while trying
to establish ownership.
“The Council will discuss securing the site in a way that’s not
intrusive.
“Imagine opening your curtains
and seeing a big railing.
“If Dunnes Stores did go in there
it would be terrific.”
Dunnes Stores were contacted to
make a comment but did not reply
by the time of going to print.
