POLYDENTIA’S QUICKMAT DELUXE MATRIX SYSTEM FOR PERFECT CLASS II RESTORATIONS Overview • Quick Rings: in stainless steel, very handy especially for reconstructions of MOD-cavities • „Re-Force“ insert for Quick Rings: Placed upon the ring, it allows to increase the separation force exerted on the teeth when the clinical situation asks for it • Delta and Cylindrical Silicone Tubes: Particularly suitable in case of very extensive cavities. Applied to both ends of the Quick Ring, they perfectly fit to the convexity of the teeth thanks to their innovative shapes, facilitating adhesion and adaptation of the matrix • Thin (0.04 mm) Contoured Sectional Matrices: Anatomically shaped and easy to burnish • Microthin (0.025 mm) Contoured Sectional Matrices: In case of serrated interdental spaces, this microthin version allows to obtain very tight contact points with an ideal morphology • Assorted maple wood wedges: Available in different sizes, for optimal separation of the teeth All components can be reordered separately, according to the own clinical necessities and requests. CLINICAL CASE: QUICKMAT DELUXE – STEP-BY-STEP APPLICATION (By courtesy of Doctor Markéta Hoffmanova – Nymburk/Czech Republic) Introduction A class II restoration is one of the most frequent clinical situation that a dentist has to face in daily work. An easy matrix system – permitting to reach tight contact points – is desired. Especially material overlapping has to be avoided, as it increases significantly the time for finishing and polishing. Polydentia SA – Case Report with Quickmat Deluxe – Class II Restorations (Dr. Hoffmanova) Quickmat Deluxe is a Sectional Matrix System that allows to create perfect, extremely precise and anatomically correct contact points in class II restorations. The system is characterized by its userfriendliness and contains the following components: 1 The classical way consists in application of a matrix fixed with an universal matrix retainer. As we all already noticed, the retainer’s weight can deform the matrix band, leading to no contacts or quite abnormal interproximal filling shape. This procedure can make a MOD-filling quite difficult. So called sectional matrix systems are a good alternative, usually consisting in a kit of matrices, retaining rings and wedges. Quickmat Deluxe (Polydentia) offers 2 different matrix heights to be applied according to the clinical type of the cavity: for supragingival cavities in molars (6.4 mm) and premolars (5.0 mm). In order to ensure isolation it is recommended to place a rubber dam first. The appropriate sectional matrix band is then placed between the tooth and stabilized placing the corresponding size of a wedge. If there is a MOD-cavity, of course two matrices have to be placed against both cavosurfaces. Image 2: Placement of the Quick Ring In a second step a Quick Ring with Re-Force insert (purple color) is brought on the top by forceps. In case of a MOD-cavity or when more interproximal fillings are executed in one session, more rings can be positioned, one overlapping the other. The result is a well adapted and stable matrix placement. Note: during wedging it is recommended to press with a finger against the occlusal extremity of the matrix (no dislocation) The replacement of amalgam filling has been executed successfully and was fully satisfying the patient also from esthetic point of view. CLINICAL CASE 2: QUICKMAT DELUXE – STEP-BY-STEP APPLICATION (By courtesy of Doctor Markéta Hoffmanova – Nymburk/Czech Republic) Introduction The patient is a 55-year old woman, non-smoker, in general healthy. She came to our surgery to have old, mostly amalgam fillings replaced. In case of approximal class II restorations Quickmat Deluxe (Polydentia) is a very reliable system, ensuring tight and anatomical contacts. I personally appreciated particularly the presence of a matrix with subgingival extension, even not directly included in the kit. On the top of this, the possibility to execute several class II restorations in the same quadrant and in the same session are an absolute added value. The system saves my patient’s time in a significant manner. Polydentia SA – Case Report with Quickmat Deluxe – Class II Restorations (Dr. Hoffmanova) Conclusion 5
