Rockets shut-out Garrad 15-0 for fourth win

Behind one of the best defensive
teams in the state, the Rockcastle
County Rockets proved once again
why they are the number two ranked
team in Class AA when they traveled to Garrard County Friday night
and blanked an excellent Golden
Lions team 15-0.
The Rockets defense which has
been superb all season Ionlg, held the
Golden Lions to only two First downs

by the Rocket secondary. Both first
downs were in the second half, Garrard managed none in the First.
The Rocket defense has given up
only 13 points in four games, one of
those scores was given-op by the
Rocket junior varsity and the other
score was on a fluke mss play by
Prestonsburg. In-sumjishell, the
Rocket defense is awesome.
The Rocket offense is not loo
shabby either.
Including Friday night'sshut-out
the Rockets have oulscorcd their
opponents 160 to 13. They have held
their opponents to 178 yards, while
the Rock offense has gained 1450
yards.
Friday night the Rockets did it by
ground and air, getting 187 yards on
the ground and 69 in the air.
Quarterback Jamie Linville
passed 12 times completing six of
those tosses, to four different receivers, while Jon Cromer led the Rocket
backs wilh 158 yards on 29 carries
for an averagcof more thanfiveyards
a carry.
Cromer also scorcd both of the
Rocket touchdowns on gutsy runs of
17 and 40.
His first score came early in the
second quarter when Cromer look a
Linville handoff and sprinted down
the left side lines, walking a light
rope the last ten yards before diving
into the end zone. Raymond Blackbum's extra point kick was blocked.
The second score came in ihe

Cromer had fumbled before the
safety to give the ball to the Lions,
but he atoned for his mistake by
rambling 40 yards down the left sideline to seal the Rocket victory. Blackbum added the extra point.

Rockets had won 15-0 over one of the
top rated Class A teams in the state
