In 2014, a side-by-side trial was conducted by Southern States in Georgia to
evaluate the performance of Nu-Trax P+ in cotton production. Under the
conditions of this study, addition of Nu-Trax P+ to standard grower practices
increased cotton yields at all four trial locations. Nu-Trax P+ increased cotton yields by
49 pounds per acre, on average.

BACKGROUND
Scientific research has shown that plants have a high demand for phosphorus during the
first 28 days of growth. Nu-Trax P+ (25% P, 20% Zn, 5% Mn and 4% N) is a unique fertilizer

phosphorous and zinc, in closer proximity to plant roots for earlier crop uptake. In crops
like cotton, a strong start can mean a better finish.
METHODS
This side-by-side trial was conducted by Southern States in four no-till commercial fields
following winter wheat in Statesboro, Georgia. Broadcast fertilizer treatments consisted
of i) Control: Standard Grower Practice and ii) Control + 2 lb/ac Nu-Trax P+. Fertilizer regimens
were comparable between locations, except that Sites 1 and 2 received 60 lb/ac P2O5 and

Nu-Trax P+ increased cotton yields at all
four trial locations as compared to the
control (Figure 1). Increases in yield ranged
from 9 lb/ac at Site 3 to 82 lb/ac at Site 4;
on average, Nu-Trax P+ increased yields by
49 lb/ac. In this study, yield increases were
not related to granular phosphorous
fertilizer application, as the lowest and
highest increases in yield were observed in
fields that received the low rate of
phosphorous fertilizer. Sites 1 & 4 had the
lowest P2O5 levels in soil sample analysis
reports (Table 1) and had the highest yield
increase from Nu-Trax P+ relative to the
control (Figure 1).

SUMMARY
Yield increases were observed at all four sites when Nu-Trax P+ was applied. This demonstrates that Nu-Trax P+ can
be a beneficial addition to standard fertilizer practices in cotton production.
