SPORTING FC NEWSLETTER april 2013 A Word from our Chairman Hi All, Welcome to the clubs first and hopefully not the last newsletter. I am very excited about the next few months up and coming events especially with the fact that the few games most teams have left will determine their positions for next season, some will get promotion some will come runners up and of course some have just played for fun (the younger teams – as noncompetitive). This part of the season is also busy times behind the scenes for all that are involved within the club on and off the field. Sonya is doing a great job with the tuck shop bringing in what people want , Kevin has done some great work behind the scenes re games being rescheduled, these are just two people who go unnoticed within the club but play a vital part for all of us concerned. Hope you enjoy your first taste of what is to come of yours in Sporting FC. Phill Sporting FC Tournament We are very pleased to be hosting our very own tournament on the 25th May 2013 for U9, U11, U13, 26th May 2013 for U10, U12, U14 If you are able to help out on these days please contact Des Andrews manager of U13’s [email protected] PROMOTION FOR U12’S WELL DONE to our U12’s team for their promotion. we don’t mean just the manager, coach and the players we have tried to get the parents involved and they can be very proud of their sons and what they have done this season. Roll on next season for more success. Sporting FC leading example since 1994..” Manager Kevin Samson said “Well what can I say about the U12’s firstly I am so proud that all their hard work paid off. We started the season with a positive frame of mind it was mainly a new team and we picked up a couple of players from Saltley who have proved to be a real asset to the team. Anyway to cut a long story short we gained promotion with 4 games left and so far the only team to beat the league winners Football Futures. We have played really well all season but none of it would have been possible without Dan, the players and the parents”. Captain of U12’s Liam Maguire said “I am happy that we got promotion as captain of the team and that I am more than happy that I got it with my team mates and some of them I can call my friends….” A few words from: Assistant Manager and Coach Daniel Maguire “As a coach all you can ask of your players is to try your best and work hard…we got that 10 fold and with the hard work we got our promotion….as a team WELL DONE U12’S Fundraising We are constantly fundraising so we can buy new equipment, get new kits, pay rent on pitches and lots of other things. Sponsors Respect Barrier We need companies to sponsor our kits – if you know of anyone that could sponsor a kit/kits please let your manager know. Each year we contact hundreds of companies and every year it is getting harder to get sponsorship as there is no money around. As we are a not for profit club we need sponsorship to be able to provide new kits for our teams, who do an amazing job in representing Sporting. So if you know of anyone that could sponsor a teams kit or some new equipment please email [email protected]. The FA requires all youth football clubs to have a Respect Barrier at matches. This prevents spectators interfering with the game, players, coaches or match Officials. Did you know that if you pass the respect barrier during the match you could get a very large fine . Recycling Meet Manager of U10’s Jamie *We are recycling our old mobile phones and inkjet cartridges to raise funds for the club leaflets can be picked up in the tuck shop. *Also you could get a new kit for your team by recycling DVD’s, CD’s and games.
