Michigan MI Child Program Immunization Information

MIChild Immunization Information for Provider
Offices
Children participating in the MIChild Program will be eligible for
the VFC Program effective January 1, 2016. Please note the
information below regarding changes to the MIChild Program.
 Effective January 1, 2016, the Michigan Department of
Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is converting the
MIChild program to a Medicaid expansion program
 Children who are currently enrolled in MIChild will
automatically be transitioned from their current health plan
to a Medicaid Health Plan or Fee-for-Service
 MIChild Members will be covered under the Vaccines for
Children (VFC) program
 Providers should use public (VFC) vaccine stock when
administering vaccine to patients with MIChild/Medicaid
coverage and select “Medicaid” eligibility when reporting
doses in MCIR
 Please be reminded, Michigan Medicaid policy requires
verification of a beneficiary’s eligibility information prior to
rendering services
 Although individuals will be enrolled in a Medicaid
expansion program, the program will continue to be
referred to as the MIChild program
 Providers will see patients who will present a MIChildMedicaid card to help identify them as now part of the
Medicaid program
MDHHS will continue to provide update notices throughout this
conversion of MIChild to Medicaid Expansion. Please visit the
MIChild Provider website for more information. Providers with further
questions can contact Provider Support by phone 1-800-292-2550
