Linking to online readings in LEO

Adding Copyright Material to LEO Units.
ACU Library uses Equella-CAL to record and manage the use of copyright content in
LEO.
There are now 2 steps to adding readings to a LEO unit: Following these steps takes
minimal time and ensures that links are accurate.
Step 1: Scanning and uploading readings to Equella-CAL.
Send your reading list, including full citations to your local campus library
onlinereadings team, they will scan and upload to Equella-CAL for you.
Step 2: Adding links to online readings to your unit.
a) To add material from Equella-CAL to your unit, login to LEO and navigate to the
unit page that you wish to add content to.
b) Turn editing on and choose a location (module) where you want to add the
content.
c) Use the 'Add an activity or resource' link and select 'Content' in the selection
screen, then click 'Add'.

d) The Equella interface will load within your unit – allowing you to search Equella
Resources.
Enter your search term (use only book or chapter title, or journal or article title) in
the search field, then click '
'. As you type your search, Equella will
dynamically display a list of items that contain your search terms.
e) The results are listed in the space below the search field. From the list of results,
click on the title of the required item to access the complete item record, then
click on the Activate and Add button.

f) Modify the dates only if necessary (Readings are activated for one semester
only)
g) Click on 'Activate and add' again.
h) A number will appear in brackets on the right next to the Module number that has
been selected
i) To add more items to your unit, click on 'Search' (at the top of the screen) and
repeat process.
j) It is possible to add readings to other ‘Modules’ by selecting the Module number
at the right of screen
k) To add the selected items to your unit, click ‘Save', on the right hand side of the
screen.
l) The items are added to your unit. The item's complete citation appears within the
Module selected. To edit the citation click on ‘Edit’, then ‘Edit Settings’, make the
required changes to the content in the ‘Name’ field.

m) Select ‘Save and return to unit’.
Adding Links within HTML Pages
If required, you can also copy the item URL from the 'Item Location' field and use this
as the link in a HTML page.
Click on ‘Save and return to unit’.
