Description –
- Builders from Hawaii bring their completed models to display at Kawaii Kon 2017. Winner(s) will win exclusive
limited edition P-Bandai model kits.
Entry –
- All contestants must be 15 years of age or older. Any contestants under 18 must have a consent form filled and
signed by their parent or guardian

Rules for Gunpla Hawaii Build Off
Models must use Bandai plastic model kits from the Gundam universe.
Use of complete resin conversion or full resin kits are prohibited; resin as a material may still be used for parts.
Any custom parts must be scratch built or of licensed brand (i.e. Kotobukiya, Wave, etc.)
Your entry must be your own work.
Models can be entered in dioramas; however, the maximum dimensions of
any entry may not exceed 15" x 15" x 18" (length x width x height).
Works must not use the intellectual property of other parties including use
of copyrighted material, company logos, trademarks, characters, product
lettering, etc. unless written permission is given from rights-holder.
Only one entry is allowed per person.
*All contestants will be automatically entered in all categories unless kit
does not meet specifications (i.e. if kit/diorama exceeds maximum dimensions, kit cannot be entered in “Best in
Show” but will still be entered in other categories. If entries have a mixture of different grade/size kits, the
entry will be considered the larger of the kits, i.e. HG and MG in one entry, the kit will be considered for “Best
Large Scale,” not “Best Small Scale.” Contestants cannot win more than two (2) categories. Categories are as
followed:
Best in Show –
Will be featured by Bluefin as the Best in Show winner of the Gunpla Hawaii Builders Cup and has a
chance to win a trip to Japan to compete in the International GBWC 2017.
Fan Favorite –
Fan based judging that will allow all who view the entries to vote for their favorite!
Best Large Scale –
Best MG 1/100 scale or larger (can exceed maximum dimensions listed above, however, will not be
eligible for Best in Show category)

Best HG 1/144 scale or smaller (can exceed maximum dimensions listed above, however, will not be

Judging Criteria
Models will be judged by a group of experienced modelers and builders appointed by Animeya and
Collectables. Entries will be judged on their construction, finish and technical presentation.
Construction: Quality and execution of the construction and attention to detail of the entry.
Finish: Includes paint, decals and excellence of any customizations.
Technical Presentation: Aesthetics of the entry, including posing, modifications and presentation.
Please note your entry may be disqualified for the following:
1. Work which is contrary to morality or public order.
2. Work which contains personal information.
3. Work which contains slanderous expressions toward certain persons or groups.
4. Work which is mimicked or copied off of someone else's work.

5. Work which infringes on a third-party's copyright.
6. Inappropriate works which is not consistent with the purpose of this competition.

Other information
1. All participants must bring their own models to the Hawaii Convention Center (Kawaii Kon). Set up of
participants must be on Thursday, April 6, 2016 between (TBD) and Friday, April 7, 2017 between
TBD. Any entries brought outside of these times will not be allowed to participate.
2. Participants may pick up their entries at the conclusion of the prize ceremony and must pick them up
before the closing of the show.
3. Strict inspection on all models will be carried out; any entries found to be using counterfeit kits (nonBandai kits) or excluded items will be disqualified.
4. Event organizers shall endeavor to take care of all submitted entries. However, they shall not be held
liable for any loss or damages should they occur.
5. Judges decision is final; no further correspondence will be entertained.
6. These rules may be subject to change without notice.
7. Power supply/connection for display of your work may not be available at the event space
By entering, contestants agree to Animeya and Collectables and others who are appointed by Animeya and
Collectables to use submitted works (photograph, title, comments, images which were sent to us for the final
judging and actual winning pieces) for the purposes listed below:
Contestants also agree to the following information to be posted; name (first name must be posted, “nickname”
such as social media tag, can be used alongside real name, age, and area of residency (i.e. Aiea, Honolulu, Pearl
City, etc.) as information regarding the entrants.
1. Publishing in Animeya and Collectables Facebook and website, Gunpla Hawaii, other websites and
publications which are operated/created by Animeya and Collectables and partners.
2. Publishing in mediums such as hobby magazines.
3. Displaying at various events.
4. Publishing in other forms for the purpose of promoting this competition, gunpla, Gunpla Hawaii and
Animeya and Collectables.
・Contestants agree to us altering images by adjusting colors, cropping, correcting typographical errors in
comments and title, editing comments etc. for the purposes listed above.
・The organizer will be extremely careful while handling your work, but we cannot fully guarantee its safety.
