DCX CODE OF CONDUCT DCX PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT Parents impact their children’s lives like no other people can…in sports as in every other aspect. Parents, even those millions who coach their own kids, do best by their children when focusing on sports as a developmental opportunity, rather than a do-or-die, winat-all-cost proposition. Parents are expected to positively support their daughter, the team and the coach. Parents need to avoid behaviors that are detrimental to her experience. The following is an agreement between DCXtreme Volleyball, the parent and the player. I will abide by the rules of the game and policies of USA Volleyball I will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship. I will show respect, courtesy and support for all players, coaches, officials and other spectators. I will not encourage or engage in unsportsmanlike conduct such as booing, taunting or using profane language or gestures. I will not coach my child from the bleachers/sidelines. I will not ridicule or yell at my child or any other participant for making a mistake or losing a competition. Players and Parents will support other DCX teams participating at an event. Playing Time is earned and at the discretion of the coach; it is reasonable to speculate that playing time may be distributed more liberally at the lower levels. Attendance for all practices is required. Since match play is solely up to the discretion of the head coach, playing time may be affected by poor attendance. The Player or parent will communicate, well in advance, any practices or tournaments that may be missed due to conflicts or illness. Parents are asked to stay in areas designated for viewing. No video taping of practices is allowed. Parents will not meet with coaches on tournament days to discuss issues, playing time, etc. The parent will contact the coach via email to schedule a time the following week to discuss any issues or concerns. Players whose accounts are delinquent will be withheld from play and practice. We highly recommend taking a look at the “Parents Tools” resources on the Positive Coaching Alliance website (www.positivecoach.org). 1 DCX PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT Playing Time is earned and at the discretion of the coach; it is reasonable to speculate that playing time may be distributed more liberally at the lower levels.
