Bon Air Youth Basketball League is a coed basketball league established with the belief that when friends play together they stay
together and play basketball for life. Established in 1956 by the Burke family as the Bon Air South Hampton Athletic Association, Bon
Air Basketball continues to serve the community today as a basketball league that provides quality coaching, officiating, and facilities,
and that values sportsmanship, competition, and most important, the athlete.
In 1956, teams formed based on neighborhood boundaries, so you played with your neighborhood friends, win or lose. Today, we
believe the “neighborhood” extends beyond the traditional neighborhood to school (public, private, honors), football, baseball, soccer,
as well as, other sports and clubs. As a result, we honor the spirit of the “neighborhood” team by encouraging friends to play
basketball together from 3rd grade to High School. And if you are new to Bon Air, we will find a team for you where you can make new
friends for life.
Bon Air Basketball gives priority placement to returning athletes and their families, so space is limited. DON’T WAIT, REGISTER

All teams will play a 10 – 14 game schedule (depending on the age group and weather). Varsity teams will have 6 scheduled practices
and play 18+ games. Additional practices times will be made available on a first come/first serve basis. All teams participate in the
playoffs at the end of the season.
Normal practice times on weeknights for each age group are: Mites/Minors (6-7:15), Intermediate/Freshman (7:15-8:30),
Freshmen/Varsity (8:30-10:00). The primary practice facilities are: Bon Air, Crestwood, Greenfield, Betty Weaver, AM Davis,
Providence, Robious Elementary, Robious and Tomahawk Creek Middle, and St Christopher’s Lower schools. Most games will be
played on Saturdays at Crestwood, Bon Air, and Reams Elementary Schools and Sundays at James River High School.

* Players are encouraged to play at their grade level; however, some athletes are better served by playing at their age level (up or down). We believe
the athlete and parent will decide what is best for the athlete; however, the President of Bon Air Basketball reserves the right to make the final decision if
necessary. Bon Air is a coed league. Girls willing to play with the boys do very well; however, typically only a few teams in each age group have more
than 1-2 girls on the roster.
