GREEDY (aka FARKLE) Objective: To reach a total score of 10,000 first using probability, multiplication, and addition. Materials: 6 regular dice, paper/pencil for recording Directions: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) Create a score sheet (a T-chart works well). Play begins with the person who rolls the highest number. Play moves in a clockwise direction. During a roll, to continue, a player must roll a 1, a 5, or a combination from below and a minimum of one 1, a 5, or a combination from below must be pulled from the dice rolled. The dice remaining can be rolled again. A player may stop rolling at anytime and record their accumulated score. If all of the dice are used (from pulling out dice) and the player wants to continue rolling, they may. They will continue to add to their score as long as they have at least a 1, a 5, or a combination from below. If a player continues rolling and does not roll a 1, a 5, or a combination from below, they lose their turn, including the score they’ve rolled that roll (not the score they’ve written down). At the conclusion of a roll (by choice) the player records their total and continues to add to it at the conclusion of each roll (unless they rolled and did not get the 1, 5, or combination from below—for that roll, they would receive a 0). If someone reaches 10,000 but were not the first person to roll, each player gets one more attempt to reach 10,000 or beyond. Scoring: 1 = 100 4 ones = 2000 3 threes = 300 3 sixes = 600 5 = 50 5 ones = 2500 3 fours = 400 4 of any die other than one =1200 6 of any die = THE GAME! 3 ones = 1000 3 twos = 200 3 fives = 500 5 of any die other than 1 = 2000
