Dear ACMA Chapter Leaders: Who can apply for the Award? There are two qualifiers to applying for this award: Registered Nurse or Social Worker currently practicing in the State of North Carolina. Member in good standing American Case Management Association Crystal was an active member of ACMA for nearly six years, and a tireless supporter of our association. She was involved in a number of different capacities, including roles in the North Carolina Chapter and involvement in the Compare AD Advisory Board. Crystal was dedicated to case management, nursing and helping others. She loved ACMA and this was evident to me when she was unable to attend the 2009 national conference. Her staff took pictures of all of us holding a sign, which read “We Miss You.” She wrote me afterwards and expressed how much she missed being surrounded by her peers. She said the pictures of everyone at the conference helped her through a difficult time. Our organization was founded as a grassroots association; a close-knit family of case management professionals with a common mission. I know that Crystal will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved her, as well as the organization she served – her ACMA family. Cordially, L. Crystal Redding was a beloved colleague and friend of NC chapter of the American Case Management Association. Crystal was born on June 17, 1959 in Welch West Virginia and died November 29, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Crystal was a Registered Nurse and held a Master’s degree in Health Administration. She was the Director of Case Management at Forsyth Medical Center and several other Novant Hospitals. Crystal’s friends at Forsyth say… “She took pride in being called a maverick; an unbranded calf that bolted from the group and initiated an independent course for the good of her work and people. Crystal’s stubborn rebelliousness was refreshing and a pure delight. She was never afraid to speak her mind and with an odd twist, made the way to achieve excellence ‘Crystal’ clear.”
