2012 Safety Groups Advantage Program
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) Board
of Directors support the extension of safety groups to
firms that have exceeded 5 years in the Safety Groups
Program with a strategy to:
• Advance firms toward a Health and Safety
Management System
• Develop a sustainable Health & Safety Management
System (HSMS)
• Allow firms to continue implementation of a continual
improvement plan beyond 2011.
Firm Eligibility
Firm Eligibility:
Successful completion of 5 years in the Safety Groups
Program
*Advantage 2012 is recommended for firms beyond their
5th year in Safety Groups; however, a sponsor may
request to also include a firm in their 5th year.

continual improvement plan with assignment of
responsibilities.

• Identify qualifications for the Auditor in standard and train /
or verify qualifications are met ; Qualification standard:

*”Introduction to Auditing” training meets this internal auditor
training standard.

• Documentation of supporting evidence for each
requirement,
• Documentation of findings and conclusions of conformance
for each requirement, and
• Documented evidence of senior management review of the
completed audit.
* Safe Workplace Ontario (WSN) Safety Audit, ZeroQuest audit,
Construction Safety Audit, Public Services Health and Safety
Audit, OHSAS 18001 & CSA Z1000 are a few of the
approved audits.

• Action items to address all non-conformities,
• Responsibilities and timelines initiated
• Documented evidence of senior management review of the
developed continual improvement plan.

Reintegration operational policies that took effective July

2012 Applications & Registration Fee
Registration fees are:
• $250 for clients with $100,000 or less in annual WSIB premiums
• $500 for clients with $100,000 to $500, 000 in annual WSIB
premiums and
• $750 for clients with 500,000 or more in annual WSIB premiums
5% of their annual financial rebate supports the funding of the Safety
Group Administrator position and related support provided by the
sponsor Health and Safety Association
 Payment must be received by no later than February 28, 2012.
 Applying to only one sponsor per account
