Walkthrough guide for Entrance Counseling
Click Sign In on www.studentloans.gov
Continue to Sign In using the criteria required.
Review what you need to complete the Entrance Counseling by clicking on “Learn
More”, then click on “What you need for Direct Loans.”
→ Click Complete Entrance Counseling.
→ Click Complete Entrance Counseling.
STEP 1
→ Identify yourself by choosing the correct Counseling type.
NOTE:
The borrower must complete the counseling
session in one sitting in order for it to be recorded
in the system.
If a borrower picks a wrong answer on the quiz,
they cannot go back and correct their selected
answer.
The process is the same if choosing Graduate
student, just more/different questions.

→Select the Correct State and corresponding School Name then click continue.
A borrower will complete the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling topics listed below.
Each section will be followed by a section quiz.

Borrowers are not required to pass the Direct
Loan Entrance Counseling quiz; they just need to
complete it.
Note: The Entrance counseling quiz questions
change with each new session.

The student would choose the correct answer. After they answer each question, it
will pop up with a box telling them the right answer. They would click the “X” on
the top right to close the pop up box and click on continue.
→They must click on the Borrower’s Rights and Responsibilities in order to submit
(Will load in a new window).
