TEAMFORMATION
1.1
NumberofPlayers
TwoteamsconsisJngofsix(6)playerseachareplayingthegame.Eachteamwillbeableto
fieldinfive(5)players(Minimum2FemalesoncourtatanypointofIme)foreachgame
withone(1)playerassubsItute.Duringthematch,subsJtuteplayersmustremainoutside
thesandcourtunJlthemomentofsubsJtuJon.Ifminimumnumberofplayersisnotmet,
thematchwillnotproceedandawalkoverwillberuledfortheopposingteam.
1.2
SubsItuIons
A rolling subsItuIon system will be used. A subsJtute player is allowed to enter into the
playing sand court only aWer the player that is being subsJtuted has leZ the playing sand
court.SubsJtuJonwillbeallowedatanypointofthematchfromthesidelines.Playersare
to noIfy referee before subsItuIon. Failure to abide by subsJtuJon rules will result in a
freethrowgiventotheopposingteam.
CatchersstandingonthepontoonscanonlybesubsItutedduringthe1-minuteintervals
whenbothteamsarerequiredtochangesides.

PLAYERS'EQUIPMENTANDATTIRE
2.1 Safety
Aplayershallnotuseequipmentorwearanythingsharpthatisdangeroustohim/herorto
anyotherplayers,includinganykindofjewelry,asdeterminedbythereferees.Nowatches
areallowed.Ifplayersarefoundtohaveanyoftheseitemsduringgameplay,theywillbe
askedtoremovealldangerousobjectspriortothegame.
2.2 Footwear
Playersshallplaybare-footed.Itisstrictlyforbiddentowearanykindofhardfootwearor
equipmentthatmaycauseinjurytoanotherplayer.Socksand/orelasJcankleguardsand/or
footwrapsareopJonal.

2.3 Uniforms
The players' uniforms consist of shorts and shirt/singlet. Use of plasJc goggles for eye
protecJon is allowed. Bare-bodied players are not allowed. If both teams are wearing the
samecolorjersey,eachteamwillberequiredtosendonerepresentaJveupandacointoss
willdecidewhomtowearthebibs.Randomlyaeredteamswillberequiredtoputonthe
bibsaswell.Forhygienepurposes,ashirtmustbewornunderneaththebibs.

REGISTRATION&REPORTING
3.1
RegistraJonforallteamswillstartatthesIpulatedImeintheconfirmaIonemail
attheBeachEventRegistraJonCounter.
3.2
TeamsareadvisedtoreporttotherespecJveCourtIC,15minutespriortothestart
oftheirsubsequentmatches.IfteamsarenotpresentatthecourtduringtheirstatedJme
slot, it would be considered a walkover. The team on the field ready to play will be
consideredwinnerwithawalkover10-0scorelineforthatparJcularmatch.
3.3
In case of bad weather or any circumstances on the day of the matches, the
respecJve teams are sJll required to report on Jme (unless otherwise instructed). The
organizaIon reserves the right to delay the matches according to conIngency plan. In a
situaJonofheavyrainwiththunderstorm,theorganizaJonreservestherighttocancelthe
eventwithnorefundsgiven.Thankyouforyourkindunderstanding.

REFEREEING
ThegameshallbedirectedandofficiatedbyarefereeandaJmekeeper.Therefereeshall
determine,beforeorduringthegame,ifthecondiJonsoftheareaofplayandsurrounding
theareaofplayaresaJsfactoryforsafeplay.He/Sheshalluseawhistletoofficiatethe
game,posiJoninghimself/herselfalongthesidelines.Therefereeshallhavefullauthorityto
enforcetheLawsoftheGameinconnecJonwiththematchtowhichhehasbeenappointed
for.Thedecisionsofthereferee,regardingfactsconnectedwithplay,arefinal.Thereferee
whohaswhistledaninfracJonshallentertheplayingareatoposiJontheballwherethe
infracJonwascommijed,andtoposiJontheplayersaccordinglytotheLawsoftheGame.

GAMEPLAY
5.1
StartofGame/Time-out
A coin toss will be done to choose who to start first and choose the side to start
from. The team, which does not start the game, will start the 2nd half. During the
game, in ambiguous situaIons like jump ball, alternate possession rule applies.
(Opposingteamwhodidnotstartfirstwillgainpossessionandpossessionofthe
ballwillalternatefromthere)
NoIme-outforanyreasonwillbeallowedthroughoutthegame.TheJmewillonly
stopwiththeapprovaloftherefereewhenanyunforeseencircumstancesoccur,e.g.
injuriestoanyplayersoncourt,equipmentfailureetc.
5.2
ScoringaGoal
5.2.1 Goal – The Catcher must catch/hold onto the ball with both his/her hands
andhaveanobviousfirmgripwhileremainingonthePontoonforatleast3
seconds.Catcher’sfeethavetobefacedforwardatallImesunlessdeemed
byreferee.
5.2.3 No direct passing – Ball must be released from the Shooter’s hands to the
Catcher.
5.2.4 IftheCatcherisunabletoholdontotheball,hecanthrowtheballbackinto
courttocarryonplay.
5.2.5 Half-court rules apply, i.e. players can only score in the opposiIon half of
thecourt.
5.2.6AZeragoalisscored,thegameisrestartedbythedefendingteamwhichhas
concededthegoalfromtheBackLineattheirowndefensivehalf.
5.2.7 A ball thrown directly to the catcher from the throw in posiJon will not be
countedasagoal.
5.2.8 Itwillbecountedasagoalwhenaplayerreleasestheballbeforethewhistle
isblown.(Buzzerbeater)
5.3
Afacking
5.3.1 CatchermustbeonthepontoonatallJmes,withfeetfacingforwardatall
Jmes.Catchersarenotallowedtojumponthepontoons.
5.3.2 AjackerscannotscorefrombehindtheBackLineortheCatcher.

5.3.3 AjackerscanjumpfrominsidetheCourtandlandoutsidethesidelinesofthe
Courttoscorebuttheballmustleavetheirhandsbeforetheyland.
5.3.4 During play, if the ball is hit out of court by the defenders (even when
defending the goal), the ball will belong to the ajackers who will start the
throw-inwheretheballwashitoutofcourt.(Anyballhitoutatthebaseline,
throw-inwillbefromthecorner)
5.3.5 The catchers are ONLY allowed to change during HALF-TIME. (Unless there
areinjuriesinvolved)
5.3.6 Playersarenotallowedtobounce,dribbleorwalkwiththeballhoweverthey
areallowedtobounceorrolltheballtoanotherplayer.
5.3.7 Kickingtheballordoinga‘header’isnotallowed.
5.3.8 IntheeventthatthedefenderandcatchercatchtheballatthesameJme,
thepointmadewillbeinvalid.Thecaptain’steamwillrestarttheball.
5.3.9 Ifbothajackinganddefendingteamcatchtheballsimultaneously,orforany
ambiguous situaJon, alternate possession applies. (The team who lost the
cointosswilltakethefirstpossession)
5.4
Defending
5.4.1 DefenderscannotrunbehindtheBackLineandtheCatchertodefend.The
Referee shall award a Foul throw to Ajacking team for every infringement
commifed.
5.4.2 Defenders can jump from inside the Court and land outside the Court to
defend.However,theajackingteamwillbeawardedwithafoulthrowifthe
defenderstandsoutofthecourttodefendtheball.
5.4.3 In the situaJon where a defender happens to land before tapping the ball
out,theballwillsJllbeawardedtotheajackingteam.
5.4.4 If the Catcher does not catch the ball with 2 hands or does not have an
obvious firm grip, defenders from the opposing team can sIll tap the ball
awayfromtheCatcher.
5.4.5 If the ball is played out of the Court in any other part of the Sidelines, the
OpposingTeamservestheballattheSidelines.
5.4.6 Thelastpersonwhotouchestheballbeforetheballleavesthecourtwillbe
considered that last touch. Hence, the ball will be awarded to the opposing
team.

5.4.7 Catchers on the pontoon are not allowed to defend the ball. Any acJons
deemed to be disrupJng the offensive team’s game play by the referee will

Players with the ball cannot perform a body charge or make body contact against
theirdefender.

PlayeriscountedagainsttheTeam.WhenaTeamhasaccumulated3foulcountsin
onehalfofthegame,eachsubsequentfoulthereaZerwillresultinapenaltyshot.
5.5.4 SoWFoulsareotherformsofoffencesthatwillonlyleadtoanimmediatechangein
possessionofballtotheopposingteam.Theyinclude:

iv) Players can intercept the ball before it reaches another Player’s

i) While moving, Players cannot bounce the ball (dribbling) or

WARNINGS/SEND-OFFS
6.1
TheRefereehassolediscreJonoverexercisingwarnings/sendingoffswithregardto
addiJonalpenalJesfortheabove-menJonedFouls.
6.2
DuringtheTournament,PlayerswillbegivenaFirstwarningforrepeated
infringementofsoZrulesdespitecauJonorintenJonalcommitmentofdefensive
fouls.
6.3
PlayerscanbesentoffiftheydonotheedtheFirstwarningandsJllcarryonwith
furtherinfringementofthefouls.Theywillnotbeallowedtotakepartfurtherinthe
samegame.
Therefereewillreportthereasonwhytheplayerisshownaredcardtothe
appropriateauthoriJes,whichwillanalysethepossibilityofaddiJonalsancJons.
6.4
The following offences warrant warnings, aZer TWO warnings and thereaZer is
accompaniedwithasend-off(chargedagainsttheplayer)
i)UnbecomingaetudesshownbyPlayers
ii)Profanity/Foullanguage
iii)RoughPlay
iv)ThrowingtheballatPlayerstointenJonallyhurtthem
v) Dangerous plays which might hurt other players (E.g. IntenJonal Contact
withcatchertopreventopposingteamfromscoring.)
vi)NotrespecJngthereferees’decision
vii)Unsportsmanlikebehaviour(e.g.stallingintenJonally)
Apenaltyshot*willbegivenuponsendoff.

*APenaltyShotistakenwithonly1opposiJonDefenderinfrontofthethrowerwiththe
thrower standing at a spot 3 feet away from his/her Catcher and the Defender can only
standrightinfrontoftheCatcherandtrytointercept/blockthethrow.Theshothastobe
taken in front of a pontoon. Referee is to penalize any deliberate ajempt to stall by the
thrower.
7
DURATION
7.1
TheduraJonofallmatchesforthegroupstagesshallbe8minutes(runningclock),
dividedinto2halvesof4minuteseach,witha1-minuteintervalinbetween.Teams
willswitchsidesaZereachhalf.
7.2
From the Knockout Stages on, each match shall be 12 minutes (running clock),
dividedinto2halvesof6minuteseachwitha1minutebreakathalf-Ime.
IntheeventofaJe,extraJmewillbeplayed.ExtraJmeshallbe3minutes,divided
intotwohalvesof1.5minuteseachwithnointervalinbetween.
During extra Jme, the winner will be decided by the first team to score 5 points,
whichevercomesfirst.ThedecisiononwhotostartthegameforextraJmewillbe
decidedbyacointoss.
IntheeventadrawoccursaZerextraJme,thewinnerwillbedecidedbyabestof3
penaltyshotsforeachteam.AZer3shotseach,ifthereisadraw,thefirstteamto
score,andstopstheotherteamfromscoringwins.
