The team shot a score of 3055 and finished in 7th place overall against more established teams and programs. Overall, the first season was a huge success and has laid a foundation for years to come. As a first year team, CovCath received very generous support from Notre Dame Academy via use of its team’s equipment and facilities, making it possible for CCH to compete. Looking ahead, the CCH program sought out opportunities to fund its own equipment, as the archery program will continue as a winter varsity sport, but will also be integrated into the Physical Education curriculum. CCH parent Mr. Mike Kamer was aware of a grant opportunity through his involvement with the local chapter of The Friends of the NRA organization. Coach Robb Schneeman followed up with an application, and recently learned that Covington Catholic will receive $4,550 to fund the following items: 10 Right handed bows, 2 left hand bows, 12 dozen arrows, 2 arrow curtains (to allow indoor shooting), and 10 targets. The NRA Foundation (a 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported by fundraising programs run by the Friends of the NRA) is the country's leading charitable organization in support of the shooting sports, having awarded thousands of grants in support of educational programs since its inception in 1990.
