DRAFT NAMI-Mass Walk Affiliate Revenue Sharing Agreement

2012 Partner’s Roles, Responsibilities & Revenue Sharing Agreement
The purpose of the NAMIWalk is to raise awareness and funds for our vital work. There is no
better way to accomplish this than through the affiliates and state organizations, the foundation
of our organization. And, there is no better way to use the funds raised than for local NAMI
programs and initiatives. With that in mind, this agreement was designed to encourage
partnership among all interested affiliates or state organizations as well as to clarify various
roles, responsibilities and the revenue split,
This walk is collaboration among all NAMI partners: NAMI affiliates, state organizations, and
NAMI. Any time a major activity such as a WALK is undertaken with multiple partners there are
many positive opportunities for growth and the potential for misunderstandings. Therefore the
following guidelines are established to provide clarity and direction. We will do our best
throughout the WALK process to address any issue that might not be covered in this agreement.
We must all hold on to the fact that the WALK is a collaboration that will build and unite us to be
even more successful in our mission driven efforts. NAMI YYYY (the franchise holder) looks
forward to working with each and every NAMI partner in (your state) to strengthen NAMI’s
presence and effectiveness in (your state). Below are the state organization and affiliate
agreement guidelines.
1. Eligibility: Any NAMI partner that agrees to and signs this document is eligible for sharing
the revenue derived from the 2011 NAMI YYYY WALK. No other group or organization is
eligible to directly share in NAMIWalk revenue.
2. Shared Responsibilities: All partnering entities are invited to actively participate in
organizing for and conducting this event. To that end, as a partnering entity you commit to:
a. raising $XXXX in sponsorship revenue and $XXXX in walker revenue;
b. forming XX teams of walkers;
c. providing XX volunteers in working on various aspects of the preparation process;
d. providing XX volunteers on WALK day for set up and/or clean up activities.
e. participating in and being present at the WALK Information Meeting, the Team Captain Kick
Off Luncheon, Walk Day and Post-Walk Celebration
(OPTIONAL) Your support may also include OOOOOO if you so choose. And, you are invited to do so.
For its role, the franchise holder commits to:
a. managing and coordinating the entire process;
b. accepting the responsibility for overall fiscal accountability and for financing the event;
c. providing all the necessary support to partnering affiliates to ensure their success.
Supporting the partnering NAMI entities includes but is not limited to providing adequate and
timely printed materials, regular communications to all partner entities as well as to all team
captains & WALK supporters. Special attention will be given to maintaining a current web
presence throughout the entire process including post event and will include a strong emphasis
on NAMI’s online tools, resources, and their ease of use for online giving.
It is suggested that a separate budget be established for anticipated partner entities expenses
that may arise over the course of the WALK season. The size and items to be covered by the
budget will be at the discretion of the franchise holder.
3. How it works: Each entity sets a specific fundraising goal as an outcome of their efforts.
Awareness is raised when persons reach out their circle of friends, neighbors and relatives
asking for their support for NAMI’s work.
Team Development A. An NAMI entity may create as many WALK teams as they can
secure captains for. The teams may include individual walkers and/or groups (ex. faith
communities or Family to Family graduates) and/or businesses that will walk and secure
donations on behalf of that affiliate. B. Each captain will form a team. C. WALK teams secure
donors, which are not sponsors. D. NAMI entities are encouraged to recognize their teams,
walkers and donors supporting the individuals on those teams in various ways. E. NAMI YYYY
is responsible for communicating with all team captains. Partners are expected to do so as well
if possible.
Sponsorship Development A. WALK sponsors are individuals and businesses that
contribute between $250 and $10,000+ to the WALK event and receive recognition as such on
the printed materials, at the Team Captain Kick Off Luncheon, online and on the day of the
WALK. B. All partners are encouraged to develop a list of potential sponsors. C. NAMI YYYY
will be responsible for managing the solicitation of all WALK sponsors. The actual solicitation will
be made by the person or persons who best know the potential sponsor, whether they are
connected to the franchise holder or a participating NAMI entity. The Sponsorship Tracking
Form used to manage the sponsorship retention and recruitment process will be made available
to all partners throughout the process. D. It is expected that all parties will assist in the
identifying and securing sponsorships as part of the partnership in the WALK effort.
4. Revenue Sharing: Each partner will receive 50% of all funds that they raise (gross revenue)
through their WALK teams and their sponsorship efforts. NAMI YYYY will be responsible for all
WALK related expenses and all fees due to NAMI National as a franchised WALK site. As the
franchise holder NAMI YYYY is the fiscal agent for the WALK and as such is responsible for
accounting for all funds raised and spent as a part of the WALK effort. Within 65 days after the
WALK date, a full accounting of all funds received and spent in the form of the Final Accounting
Report due to NAMI national will be presented to all partners and the appropriate revenue due
each will be distributed to the partners.
5. Disclaimer: NAMI YYYY cannot anticipate all possible situations. Therefore, NAMI YYYY
reserves the right to modify any and all decisions on any matters related to the WALK, except
those that are explicitly stated within this Agreement.
6. HAVE FUN! Self explanatory.
