Introduction
Welcome to the 2016/2017 teeball season and thank you for taking on
the role of Manager.
The following is an outline of the responsibilities of a Manager:

to co-ordinate the distribution of uniforms (including Coach,
Manager & Umpire), and their return at the end of the season;

organise a weekly scoring roster and ensure the scorecard is
completed correctly by the scorers – the Manager cannot be the
scorer;

help the Coach during the game by getting and supervising your
team seated in “batting order” and remains so, including
supervision of a “bat boy/girl”;

keep the game count record up to date on a weekly basis;

arrange for the “game scorecard” to be handed in to the club
after each home game;

distribute information, newsletters and other items to the team and
return appropriate forms and information to the club;

try to get the parents involved in the game and encourage good
sportsmanship, discourage the “ugly parent syndrome”;

organise social gatherings for the team members and their
families;

return the team folder at the end of the season; and

any other general requirements for the Carine Cats Teeball Club.

Coach / manager should not be alone with the children—ensure
another adult is always present at training.
HAVE A GREAT SEASON
Should you have any queries regarding any subject in this booklet, please
contact the relevant committee member. Please see the contact page on
the Carine Cats Website for further details.
OPENING CEREMONY
The Opening Ceremony will be conducted between the two fixtures of the
round on Saturday 15th October 2016. Note that the games will still be
of 60 minutes duration. The first game will commence at 8.30 am (as
usual) and the second game will commence from 10:00am. It would be
appreciated if Coaches and Managers assemble their teams, in team lines
with coach and Manager at the rear. This will be held in front of the
storage containers.
Your assistance and co-operation is essential to ensure the opening
ceremony runs smoothly and within the time allowed.
UNIFORMS
Uniforms for your team will be distributed on Allocation Day. All bags
contain a full set of 12-13 shirts and pants, a Coach’s shirt, a Manager’s
shirt and an Umpires shirt. All new players receive a club hat and a pair
of socks. Continuing players are required to wear the hat and socks
previously allocated to them. New hats and socks can be purchased from
the equipment shed on Saturday mornings.
Uniforms are to be returned to the clubrooms on Saturday 11th March
2017, 1.00pm-4.00pm. It is the Manager’s responsibility to ensure the
full set of uniforms are returned even if the player is no longer playing.
Uniforms must be returned washed and folded. Parents are asked to
undertake any minor repairs before returning uniforms.
NEW PLAYERS
If your team is short (less than 12 players) it is possible to recruit a new
player. However, you must first check with the Teeball Registrar before
letting a player participate in any training session or game. If a player
withdraws from your team please contact the Registrar as there may be a
waiting list for some age groups.

GROUNDS
Under 7s, Under 9s and 10 – 14 girls teeball games are played at the
Carine Regional Open Space on Saturday mornings. Under 10 – 14 mixed
(Waneroo – Joondalup v Carine Competition) games are played at both
Carine and away.
REDUCED SIZED DIAMONDS
The Under 7 boys and the Under 7 girls teams will play on reduced sized
diamonds of approximately 3/4 the size of the standard teeball diamond.
GAME PROCEDURES AND INFORMATION
The HOME TEAM is mentioned first in the fixtures and is responsible for:1. Supplying the plate umpire;
2. Setting up the diamond with bases provided in equipment bag and
removing same after game;
3. In under 10 – 13 grades the home team must set up the diamonds
with safety bases when playing a Wanneroo/ Joondalup team. These
bases are available to collect from the equipment container
4. Collecting and erecting a shelter and bat stand from the equipment
room (first game) and returning to equipment container (last
game).
Each equipment bag contains a hammer to assist in
erecting the shelter - do not use bats for banging in the pegs;
5. Supplying a scorer who must return both teams sheets/scorecards
to the box at the equipment container at the completion of the
game.
6. In Under 10 - 13 grades the home team is also required to erect
and return a shelter and benches for the visiting team.
The AWAY TEAM is responsible for:
1. Supplying the base umpire;
2. Supplying a scorer;

SCORECARDS
Scorecards are to be collected from the equipment container at the start
of the season and then completed each week by the scorer and handed in
at the end of each game. As these scorecards determine players weekly
game counts, they must show a correct record of those players
participating and must match the record on the Manager’s game count
sheet. Failure to record accurately may result in a child missing out on a
certificate and badge for a milestone game.
The scorecard must be signed by the umpire and placed in the box at the
equipment room by the scorer of the home team at the completion of the
game.
EQUIPMENT
The equipment container is located on the top field in the back left corner.
As we currently do not have a property officer, if you have any equipment
issues please ask the shed help. If they are unable to make a decision,
based on your query this will be forwarded to a committee member who
will be in contact with you prior to your next game.
The Club is well supplied with good equipment. PLEASE LOOK AFTER IT.
Each home team is responsible for setting up the diamond and removing
their bases at the end of their game.
Equipment is to be returned to the clubrooms on Saturday 11th March
2017, 1.00pm-4.00pm. Coaches are asked to undertake minor repairs,
particularly straightening and lubricating tees. Remember, your club fees
pay for this equipment and teams will be responsible for ensuring all
issued equipment is returned. Team folders are to be returned with the
uniforms.
Managers are to ensure that scorebooks, rulebooks,
coaches manuals, medals, game counts and player assessment
sheets are returned.
MOUTHGUARDS
The teeball division of CCBC strongly encourages the wearing of
mouthguards by all teeball players.
HELMETS
If helmets are supplied in the equipment for your age group then it is club
policy that each batter, catcher and pitcher wear a helmet during
every game and at each training session.
LOCAL RULE MODIFICATIONS
SAFETY BASES
Safety Bases will be used in U/7 Boys and all the girl’s age group games,
and U10 – 13 games against Wanneroo/ Joondalup Teams. Player on 1st
base must not stand on yellow safety base.
AUTOMATIC OUT RULE
For Under 9 and below, there will be NO automatic out when there are
less than 9 players. For those ages, the batting will continue until the
ninth batter has had their turn at bat, or there are three outs.
This will mean that one or more players will receive a second turn at bat
during an innings that goes to the ninth batter.
CLUB POLICY
“There will be a compulsory rotation of all players through different
fielding positions such that in each four fielding innings each player will
have played in a minimum of two infield positions, one outfield position
and rested once”.
TROPHIES
The Club provides all players with a “participation” trophy at the
conclusion of the season. Managers will receive a complete team list please check the spelling of all players names to ensure the trophies are
engraved correctly and advise registrar of any that are incorrect ASAP.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The teeball division will be conducting selection trials on Tuesday the 1st
of November and Saturday the 5th of November 2016 to form
representative teams. These teams will compete in the State
Championships in the U/9, U/10 and U/11 boys or mixed and U/13 girls
age groups and are held at Langley Park over the March long weekend in
2017. (Players selected must play in their correct age groups).
Coaching nominations will close after State Tryouts – date to be advised.
Coaches must be Level A accredited.
CANCELLATION OF GAMES DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
The Club will use its discretion whether to cancel games due to bad
weather. In the event of bad weather, a cancellation notice will be posted
at the Equipment container. Rain will not halt play unless it is deemed to
put players at risk. Lightning in the vicinity will draw immediate halt of
the game.
Safety of the players is paramount and is at the dicretion of the plate
umpire.
CLOSING CEREMONY
The closing ceremony for teeball will be held on Saturday 18th February
2017. Details will be finalised closer to the date and players notified by
way of the club website.
COMMITTEE
With so many teams playing teeball, communications can be difficult, so
please take the initiative and contact the appropriate Committee person if
you have any issues. Please help by actively encouraging support of the
Club’s committee and programs. Please remember that the committee is
made up entirely of volunteers and always treat them with respect.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated and the committee is committed to
the development of our children under the 4 “F” philosophies:
Fun, Fundamental Skills, Fair Play, and Family
Involvement

GAME COUNTS
A team list noting the number of games played by each player at the start
of the season has been included in your folder.
PLEASE KEEP IT UP TO DATE AFTER EACH GAME. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT
IT MATCHES THE SCORECARD EACH WEEK AND MUST BE HANDED IN AT
THE END OF THE SEASON.
It is suggested that when a player commences his 100th game the Coach
involved with that team inform the umpire who can then congratulate the
player when he/she addresses the two teams prior to the commencement
of the game.
The 100th game club trophy will be presented at the Closing
Ceremony each season.
For 50th or 75th games, certificates can be collected from the equipment
container on week they are due to play that game. If for some reason
the player does not play on that day the certificate is to be held by the
Manager until he/she does play their next game.
Contact the Teeball Registrar should you have any query regarding game
counts.
ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Your team has been issued with 2 x 12 Achievement Certificates. Teams
are required to present one of these awards to a player after the game
EACH WEEK. Each team member will at some stage during the season
receive both of these awards for recognition of their achievement during
the game e.g. home run, top catch, good sportsmanship, good fielding,
best bat person or any other special talents.
The Manager or Coach must fill in the tear-off slip with each child’s name.
EACH PLAYER RECEIVES ONLY ONE OF EACH ACHIEVEMENT
AWARD DURING THE SEASON.
Your team has also been issued with a ‘Player of the Week’ trophy or
medallion, This is to be awarded each week, with all players receiving it
once. It must be returned with the uniforms at the end of the season.
Thank you for your co-operation and assistance in distributing these
awards. All sponsors contribution to our Teeball Club is significant.
Should you have any queries regarding these awards, please contact the
Registrar.

Parent’s Code of Behaviour
1. Children play teeball for fun. Accept any mistakes as part of their learning
process. Remember they are playing for their enjoyment not yours.
2. Encourage children to participate, do not force them.
3. Don’t leave your child at Teeball. Stay and support the team, volunteer to help
and discuss your child’s progress with the Coach.
4. Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
5. Applaud good play from all teams.
6. Encourage your child to always play within the Rules of Teeball and accept the
Umpire’s decision.
7. Never ridicule, abuse or yell at a child for making mistakes or losing a game.
8. Offensive behaviour from parents or spectators is not acceptable under the Rules
of Teeball and stern action will be taken against offenders.
9. Recognise the value and importance of the volunteer Coaches and officials. They
give of their time and knowledge to provide organised teeball for your child and
deserve your respect and support.
10. Teeball is a team game. Accept and understand that at all times your child may
be asked to take a turn on the bench.
11. Not all children can be champions. Do not force an unwilling child to participate
in teeball or expect more from your child than their best efforts.
12. Respect officials’ decisions and teach children to do likewise. Remember children
learn best through example.
13. If you disagree with an official or Coach, raise the issue through the appropriate
channels rather than question the person in public.
14. Foul language of any sort will not be tolerated.
15. Support and encourage all of the team, not only your child, and remember that
the coach is there for the whole team and not individuals.
16. As commitment to training is essential, the Coach must be advised if a player
cannot attend a training session. It is important to note that training for
Interdistrict teams often takes place over the Christmas break.
17. Parents must advise the Coach by the previous evening if their child is
unavailable to play on Saturday morning.
18. Derisive comments aimed at the umpire or officials are unacceptable and only
bring the club into disrepute.
19. Show appreciation of volunteer Coaches, Umpires and officials. Without them,
your child could not participate.
20. We ask that everyone refrain from smoking while enjoying the game or in the
vicinity of our players.
Players Code of Behaviour
1. Learn the rules of Teeball and always play by them.
2. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they be by your team or the
opposition.
3. Players must wear correct footwear, hats and be suitably attired.
4. Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or
take unfair advantage of another player.
5. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately
distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted.
6. Never argue with an Umpire, other players, Coaches or Officials. If you have a
problem, discuss it with your Coach and allow them to take the necessary action.
7. Verbal abuse and/or deliberate physical interference with opponents will not be
tolerated by your Coach or Umpires and will result in immediate removal from the
game as per T.B.A.W.A. Rulebook.
8. Strive to play to the best of your ability at all times, both at training and during
games.
9. Respect the time and efforts put in by your Coaches and Officials. They deserve
your full support and commitment.
10.Teeball is a team game. Encourage your teammates even when they make
mistakes. Remember every player makes errors and has off days. Never ridicule
opponents or team mates.
11.Accept that at all times you will be required to take an equal turn on the bench.
When on the bench, encourage your team and be prepared to play at all times.
12.Respect your opponents and appreciate their good play. Without opposition you
would not be able to play the game of teeball.
13.Play for the fun of it and to improve your teeball skills, not just to please parents
and coaches.
14.Respect the equipment provided for your use. Teeball equipment is very
expensive and should be used responsibly. Abuse of equipment such as throwing
helmets or bats is unacceptable.
15.Always think of safety to avoid injuries to yourself and others.
16.Foul language of any sort will not be tolerated.
17.Players must still maintain their obligations to their club teams at both training
and games.
