The group of more than 40 students and staff leaders dedicated their Sunday morning to cleaning up the University and offering help. Smaller groups were assigned to clean up different zones such as the area around the Food Court, the Football Field, and the Maintenance Building. Two University faculty members had expressed their need for personal assistance with chores, so two of the small groups went to the Faculty housing area where they helped with the tasks. By lunch time, the Masterguide club had successfully filled more than 15 garbage bags with waste and made the University campus a cleaner place. After thanking everyone for their help, Masterguide Gabby Galgao, the Club Director, handed out boxes of juice to refresh the participants. The Masterguide Club Community Service is not a one-time event. The leaders of the club expressed their intent to organize one community service activity every semester. The main focus of the Masterguide Curriculum is to develop exceptional leaders in the Church, and members are also expected to be model citizens of any community they are in. The Masterguides have regular weekly meetings every Wednesday from 5 -7 pm. If you would like to join the club, feel free to contact Mr. Gabby Galgao or Haydn Golden. The prayer team leaders included Mrs. Nola Tudu, Dr. Bienvisa Nebres, Dr. Henry Foster, and Pr Johnny Wong, along with others who helped lead out on different evenings. For the format, there was both united prayer and time for smaller prayer groups. Participants shared the blessings and experiences. “The 10 days of prayer was truly a blessing to me personally,” said Chaplain Mahaingam Varah. “Let me put it this way - even the wind and the cold weather could not stop the prayer warriors from attending the prayer session. I would like to thank all the warriors for having strengthened my prayer life.” Many who attended were determined to take time for prayer, in spite of the cold weather - lows of 14-18°C according to the Bangkok Post. The 10 Days of Prayer also overlapped some major events such as the University Cultural Fest and Muak Lek Dairy Fest. So it was clear that those who attended were committed to seek God in prayer. Students shared that, in spite of the challenges and distractions they were still determined to go. Many experienced great blessings and God’s guidance. Student Charlene Gabu said, “It really encouraged me to pray all together, united, as one church. I could feel the Holy Spirit guiding me to join prayer meeting, and I have the assurance that God will answer my prayers in His perfect time.” While most prayers were general, for the University, the Southeast Asia Union Mission, our home countries and families, many personal petitions have gone up to God. In Mark 11:24 Jesus says to His disciples, “whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” The book Steps to Christ in response to Jesus’ promise says, “The assurance is broad and unlimited, and He is faithful who has promised.” May God be with each of the prayer requests.
