Camille Little (acquired via trade from Connecticut),
Leilani Mitchell (free agent, played on 2015 Mercury
team), Shay Murphy (free agent, played on 2014
Mercury team), Danielle Robinson (acquired via trade
from San Antonio), Stephanie Talbot (2014 Draft, 33rd
overall by Phoenix) and Yvonne Turner (free agent).
'BOUNCE BACK': Despite the Mercury's 16-18
record last summer, history has been good to Phoenix
coming off losing seasons, especially 16-18 records.
After finishing 16-18 in 2008, the Mercury rebounded
in 2009 by winning the WNBA Championship.
Additionally, in the three losing seasons the Mercury
has had since 2008 (2008, 2010, 2012), the team
finished with a winning record in each of the following
years, while also reaching the semifinals.
TROPHY CASE: The Mercury won their third WNBA
Championship in 2014 and became the third
franchise in the then 19-year history of the league
with three or more championships.....the Houston
Comets (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000) and Detroit Shock
(now Dallas, previously Tulsa) (2003, 2006, 2008) are
the other two. Minnesota joined the list in 2015, while
Los Angeles joined in 2016.

Phoenix Mercury vs. Atlanta Dream • Wednesday, July 12, 2017 • Talking Stick Resort Arena • PhoenixMercury.com
#42 Brittney Griner
6-9 • 205 • Center • Baylor, ‘13 • Houston, TX
Fifth WNBA Season • Selected by Phoenix with the first overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft
Highlight: Griner is averaging career-highs in scoring (22.4 points per game), rebounding (8.4 rebounds per game),
assists (2.1 assists per game), field goal percentage (58.1 percent) and playing time (32.2 minutes per game). With her
fourth rebound on July 9 vs. New York, she acheved the 1,000th of her career, becoming the fifth Mercury player to
grab 1,000 rebounds (DeWanna Bonner, Diana Taurasi, Candice Dupree and Penny Taylor).
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Named the Western Conference Player of the Week for July 3-9 after averaging 25.3 points on 68.2 percent shooting
from the field, 11.7 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game. It marked her fourth such career honor, and her first since Aug.
10, 2015. She had two 30+ point performances and two double-doubles, including a 31-point, 13-rebound, 6-block
performance vs. New York while shooting 76.4 percent on July 9. She is the second Mercury player to win a weekly award
this year (Diana Taurasi from May 29-June 4).
STREAKIN'
- Her career-long regular season streak of scoring in double figures ended at 17 games long on June 30. She bested her 15-game
streak that she set three years ago (July 6-Aug. 12, 2014).
- Had her career-long five-game streak of scoring 20+ points end on June 18 (had seven career two-game streaks prior to it)
- Had her career-long nine-game streak of scoring 15+ points end on May 27; had also notched at least two rebounds and two
blocks in each of those games, a nine-game streak that only three NBA players accomplished in the last 10 years (Anthony Davis
had 10 straight in 2014-15, Amar'e Stoudemire with 15 in 2010-11 and nine in 2007-08, and Jermaine O'Neal with nine in 2006-07)
- Recorded back-to-back double-doubles with her 32-point, 10-rebound night on May 17 and 20-point, 13-rebound performance
on May 19. It marked her first two-game stretch of double-doubles since her first two playoff games from Sept. 17-19, 2015.
PUTTING UP POINTS
- With her final point on June 16 vs. Chicago, Griner achieved her 2,000th career point. She became the seventh player
to score 2,000 points in a Mercury uniform (Diana Taurasi, DeWanna Bonner, Penny Taylor, Candice Dupree, Jennifer
Gillom, Cappie Pondexter).
- Achieved a new career-high 38 points on June 7 at Indiana. Entering Wednesay, that is the most points any WNBA
player has scored in a game all season (Taurasi has second-most at 37).
- Has four 30+ point games this season after not having one in her first 122 career regular season games; the rest of
the league has six combined 30-point games entering Wednesday. The Mercury are 4-0 when she scores 30 or more
points and 7-1 when she scores at least 25 points.
- Notched her 10th 20+ point regular season game of the year on July 9 vs. New York (28th of her career)
- Became the first player in WNBA history to tally at least 80 points (89), 30 rebounds (31) and 15 blocks (15) through the first four
games of a season
LEADING, NOT FOLLOWING
Entering Wednesday, Griner is...
- Leading the WNBA in scoring with 22.4 points per game
- Leading the WNBA in blocks with 2.8 blocks per game
- Leading the WNBA in field goals made per game at 8.1 FGM per game
- Leading the WNBA in free throws made per game at 6.3 FTM per game
- Leading the WNBA in free throws attempted per game at 7.6 FTA per game
- Tied for second in the WNBA in field goals attempted per game at 13.9 FGA per game
- Fourth in the WNBA in field goal percentage, shooting 58.1 percent on the season
- Fourth among centers in the WNBA in assists with 2.1 assists per game
- Sixth in the WNBA in rebounding with 8.4 rebounds per game
BRITTNEY BLOCKS
- Now eighth on the WNBA's all-time blocks list (466) after surpassing Taj McWilliams-Franklin (443) on June 7. Sylvia
Fowles (who is currently playing for the Minnesota Lynx) is seventh on the list with 494 blocks entering Wednesday).
