Umpires and Scorers 4.1 Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket will provide one umpire per game who will also score each game 5. Results 5.1 The umpire will record the games on scoresheets which will be given to the competition manager at the end of each match 5.2 The competition manager will record the results of the matches and update league tables accordingly 6. Rules 6.1 Each game lasts 24 balls (six, four ball overs) per team or until the batting team is out 6.2 Teams consist of six players (max squads of 8). These can include make and female players 6.3 The team with the highest total runs is the winner 6.4 If the scores are tied, the match is drawn. Where a winner is needed, the team who has lost the fewest wickets is the winner. 7. Batting 7.1 The game begins with two batters. When one is out, they are replaced by the next batter. 7.2 The last batter in can continue to bat with a runner until the final wicket has been take 7.2.2 The batter acting as a runner can be run out and if so, the innings will be drawn to a close and the final batter will be marked on the scoresheet as run-out 7.3 A run is scored when the batters run between the stumps 7.4 You get an additional run for hitting the side walls and the wall behind the wicket keeper. For example, the batter hits the wall (one run) and runs between the stumps (one run) to score a total of 2 runs 7.5 If you hit the back wall (behind the bowler) but the ball touches the ground before hitting the wall, four runs are scored, and the batters swap ends 7.6 If you hit the back wall (behind the bowler) without the ball touching the ground, the batter is out, but also scores six runs 7.7 7.8 7.9 You can be caught off the walls with no runs scored If you hit the ceiling you are out Batters cannot be out leg before wicket or stumped. However run outs can be given by the umpire 8. Fielding 8.1 All the bowling is from one end 8.2 Everyone on the fielding team must bowl one ‘over’ consisting of four balls (overarm or underarm). 8.3 After every over, fielders rotate 8.4 If the bowler bows the ball and the batter is unable to reach it, this is classed as a ‘wide’ and three runs will be awarded, with no extra delivery 8.5 If the ball bounces more than once, or arrives at the batter above waist height without bouncing, this is a ‘no ball’ and three runs will be awarded with no extra delivery 8.6 The final over must consist of four legal balls. For every wide or no ball three runs will be awarded and the ball must be bowled again 9. Results 11.1 The team with the highest score wins 11.2 A tied game is acceptable 11.3 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw or a tie and 1 point for losing 11.4 In the result of a tie on points at the end of the season the winner of the league will be decided on net run rate VENUE Gateway College Colin Grundy Drive Hamilton Leicester LE5 1GA League Administration and Enquiries: Competition Manager Katie Tweddle [email protected] 07588640233 Laura Joyce [email protected] 0116 244 2198 HANDBOOK
