 Alexander Punzenberger, brother of Thomas Punzenberger,
joins the company

 Start of zenon® software development
 Launch of zenon as a standard HMI/SCADA system
1991
 First zenon installation at AEG AG in Berlin
1993
 Two major customers acquired (KRONES AG and VA TECH
SAT)
1995
 VA TECH SAT acquires a 30% stake in COPA-DATA

 Start of zenon CE development
1999
 First foreign subsidiary opened (location: Ottobrunn,
Germany)
 Introduction of zenon as first HMI solution on Windows CE

 Subsidiary founded in Italy (location: Appiano)

 Establishment of COPALP in France – COPA-DATA
acquires a 55% stake
 Start of straton® software development in France

 Relocation to new company offices in Salzburg – today`s
corporate headquarters (COPA-DATA Headquarters)
 Founding of a subsidiary in USA (location: Troy, Michigan)

 Buyback of all stakes in the company held by third parties –
 COPA-DATA becomes 100% family-owned
 Founding of a subsidiary in the UK (location: Sandbach)

 Recapitalization of COPALP: COPA-DATA stake increase
from 55% to 84%
 COPA-DATA wins Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation of the
Year Award

 Customer wins “Red Dot Design Award” with zenon project
 Start of apprentice training
 Restructuring of international sales organization

 Establishment of three new subsidiaries: COPA-DATA
Central Eastern Europe/Middle East (location: Salzburg,
Austria), COPA-DATA Iberia (location: Cascais, Portugal),
COPA-DATA Scandinavia (location: Kista, Sweden)
 Reestablishment of subsidiary in USA (location: Princeton,
New Jersey)
 Establishment of two new COPA-DATA offices: COPADATA Korea (location: Seoul) and COPA-DATA Poland

 Establishment of a new branch office in Germany (location:

 Establishment of the worldwide network “COPA-DATA
Partner Community” (CDPC)

 Launch of differentiated product portfolio “zenon Product
Family”, consisting of zenon Supervisor®, zenon Operator®,

 Establishment of another branch office in Germany (location:

 Establishment of a subsidiary in India (location: Pune)

 Establishment of new UK head office (location: Newport,

 Renovation of COPA-DATA Headquarters – launch of the

 Change of name from COPALP to COPA-DATA France and
its integration as subsidiary into the COPA-DATA Group
 COPA-DATA wins two Microsoft Partner of the Year awards
in the worldwide category “Public Sector: Microsoft CityNext”
and also “Country Partner of the Year” in Austria.
