“The Most Dangerous Game” – Project
You will complete three activities that should make a tic-tac-toe line: horizontal, vertical, or
diagonal. The project is due on Friday, April 10, 2015; so you will need to work on this at home.
It is worth 300 points.
Using a specific set of materials,
you will either illustrate or
design, build, and present a 4th
trap Rainsford might’ve used had
the game gone on longer. You
will present your trap to the class,
along with a detailed written
explanation of the steps taken to
build the trap, how the trap
works, and how the story
would’ve played out had
Rainsford been able to use the 4th
trap.
Create a comic book version of
the story. It must be between 4-5
pages with 9 boxes per page. You
must include a caption or thought
bubble in each picture.
Imagine that “The Most
Dangerous Game” is being made
into a movie. You must make a
movie poster advertising the
movie. It must include the
following:
* The title of the story
* A picture from a scene from the
story
* An advertising slogan –
Example: “Find out how a hunted
animal feels.”
* Name two real actors who you
think could play Rainsford and
General Zaroff
* Two mock review quotations –
Example: “It will leave you
breathless. I give it five stars.”
Joe Smith of the New York Times
Draw a map of Ship Trap Island.
The map must include the
following:
* The title – Name of Island
* A compass rose – showing
North, South, East, and West
correctly
* A key / legend to any symbols
you use
* The location of the chateau
* The location of Death Swamp
(specific location given in the
story)
*The spot where Rainsford
jumps into the water (information
in the story should tell you how
to position this spot and the
chateau)
* The Caribbean Sea labeled
* Spots indicating where
Rainsford hid in the tree, made
the Malay Mancatcher, Burmese
Tiger Pit, and the Ugandan knife
trick. (You can put these where
they make sense based on the
story.)
Write a one-page journal entry
that Zaroff might have written
explaining why Rainsford is such
an excellent choice for his game.
Write a ½ page note that
Rainsford leaves behind for
Zaroff, if Zaroff happens to
win. Be sure to capture
Rainsford’s feelings about the
game and hunting.
Choose four of the following
types of figurative language used
in the story: simile, metaphor,
irony, imagery, and
personification. Then divide your
paper into four blocks, one block
for each example of figurative
language. Title each block with
the type of figurative language it
will illustrate. Write the
definition of the type of
figurative language. Write the
example from the story. Draw a
picture that illustrates the
example of figurative language
from the story.
Create a Personal Inventory—It
needs to be a list of the ten things
that you would bring with you if
you were stranded on an island.
In addition to the list of items,
you also need to write a sentence
or two explaining why you would
bring/need the items.
Create at least 6 illustrations to
go along with the short story.
Use any medium you wish for
your artwork. Be sure that your
illustrations reflect the mood of
the story.
