Alumni Newsletter - March 2014 School of Accountancy Alumni Reception and DU/CC Hockey Game The School of Accountancy welcomed over 100 alumni and friends back to campus to cheer on the DU Hockey team as they took on Colorado College on Friday, February 21. We were thrilled with the turnout and the positive feedback we received regarding the event. The final scores for the games were 2-3 and 1-3. Class Notes -- Brad Busse (BSBA '80) Retirement We look forward to hosting another alumni reception in the fall. The tentative date for the game is November 15, so mark your calendar. We increased the number of tickets we purchased for the games next year to include more alumni who were unable to attend this year. Founded in 1919 as an international honorary organization for financial information students and professionals, BAP is a staple for the Daniels College of Business. Historically, BAP has focused on catering to accounting students but has begun to branch out to include other disciplines like finance and analytics. Read the Entire Article. School of Accountancy Business Olympics Winners On Thursday, February 6, School of Accountancy students Andrew Carlton, Audi Havey, Rachel Meek and Mallory Bennett won the 2014 Daniels Business Olympics. Our students got into the Olympic spirit and competed for the first annual Business Olympics trophy. The games were centered on hospitality, accounting, construction and general business knowledge. The team answered questions Jeopardy style while consuming unhealthy amounts of marshmallows and saltine crackers. We're proud of our talented students who prove that it sometimes pays off to talk with your mouth full. BAP Regional Conference Coming Up The University of Denver's Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) chapter will be attending their annual regional conference on April 11 and 12 in Salt Lake City. The Best Practices competition will be held at that regional meeting. [return to top] Class Notes After nearly 30 years in the investment banking industry, Brad Busse (BSBA 1980) decided to retire from RBC Capital Markets on February 28, 2014. Brad was one of two lead principals at Daniels & Associates when it was acquired by RBC in 2007. He then served as Co-head of the Communications, Media and Entertainment (CME) group and played a key role in growing and uptiering CME practice as they levered and integrated the Daniels acquisition. Latterly, Brad moved into a broader role in Senior Coverage and worked with numerous bankers and clients levering the relationships he cultivated over his successful career.
