PLAYING RULES
1.
Teams must have four players: Three players out and
one goalie.
2.
Substitution is not allowed.
3.
All participants must wear a CSA approved helmet
with full face protection, and hockey gloves at all
times during play. Ice hockey equipment is
permitted. Goalie pads of any sort are not permitted
(goalies may wear normal hockey shin pads).
4.
Each game is 25 minutes long (straight time), with two
12-minute halves. A face-off at centre starts both
halves. A 1-minute break will be provided between
periods.
5.
Possession: The last player to touch the ball before
going out of bounds must forfeit the ball to the
opposing team at the point of exit. Ample tennis balls
will be made available at each playing site.

THIS IS A FUN EVENT!
With my signature above, I, understanding the rules and format of the
tournament, hereby grant permission for my child to participate in the Ray
Scapinello 2015 Road Hockey Tournament and release and hold harmless
the sponsors, promoters, and all other persons or entities associated with
the event from any and all injury or damage for any claims or causes of
action whatsoever for any loss or injury suffered by any child and/or
myself. I also hereby grant permission for the Tournament Organizers to
use the personal information provided for the sole purpose of
administration of the Tournament.
When a goal is scored by the opposing team, the
penalized team will return to full strength.
7.
No off sides or face-offs. Whistles are only to be blown
for infractions and to end both periods.
8.
When a goal is scored, the team scored upon is given
centre.
9.
Goalies are not allowed to cross centre.
10. Tied games will result in a shoot-out, whereby each
player is given a shot on net (a total of 3 shots per
team) in order to break the tied game. If a tie still
exists, then one shot is given to a player in turn on each
team until the tie is broken.
11. Games will not be rescheduled. If a team does not
arrive within 5 minutes of game time, they shall default
their game.
12. The site coordinator’s word is final!
13. We reserve the right to eject anyone, player or
spectator, for questionable conduct.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
What is it?
The Ray Scapinello Road Hockey Tournament is an
annual charitable 4 on 4 tournament that is dedicated
to raising funds for youth in the Guelph area.
THE RAY SCAPINELLO ROAD HOCKEY
TOURNAMENT is a non-profit youth sporting event
that is held each spring in Guelph. This fun, unique
community event is staffed by volunteers and all
proceeds are donated to benefit youth in the Guelph
area through the Guelph Community Foundation.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
When is it?
Where is it?

Who can play?
Separate and complete the attached Registration
Form. Give your team a name. We will followup on inappropriate names, so please respect our
volunteers' time and keep your team name
"clean." Clearly record your email contact
information, as that is our primary means of
communicating with teams.
Boys and girls born in the years 2001 through 2006
may play. Divisions are grouped by age in 2-year
groupings for boys/mixed teams and by 3-year
groupings for girls teams. Girls divisions were added
in 2013 to provide an alternative to all-girls teams
who do not wish to play against boys. Girls may play
in the boys/mixed divisions if they prefer that format.

Please register as a team of FOUR players, all
having birth dates within the same divisional
guidelines. Those teams with members of
different ages must play in the older division.

What is the cost?
Entry fee is $80.00 per team by April 11th, 2015.
Other Details
All participants receive a RAY SCAPINELLO ROAD
HOCKEY TOURNAMENT T-shirt, Lunch, and other
grab bag goodies (to be determined).
All Teams are guaranteed two games.
The tournament will be played under most weather
conditions, except in cases of extreme weather.

We ask that each team provide a GAME
KEEPER (GK) as a member of their team for
each game they play. This GK must be an adult.
We will schedule a volunteer referee and a
volunteer score keeper for each game. In the
event that one of these volunteers is not available
for a game, the GAME KEEPERs will be
required to referee and/or keep score for the
game.
Each team MUST have one GAME KEEPER for
each game they play. Please indicate by checking
the box on the registration form that your team
understands this requirement.

Only fully completed registrations will be
accepted. Registrations will be accepted until
April 11th, 2015 or until full. An early-bird
draw will be made from entries received on or
before March 28th, 2015 (Team Prize TBD).

Tournament schedules and other details will be
posted on the website on Sunday April 19th, 2015.
Registration confirmations will be posted on the
website and we will also email the Team Email,
but emails may be blocked as spam. To reduce
volunteer scheduling time, please only register if
your team is committed to playing.
