Applications are invited for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme starting
from July 2015 in the disciplines of Economics, English, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology
The School is dedicated to core disciplinary research as well as inter-disciplinary approaches. The
School is committed to understanding the evolution of concepts to provide a space where the process of
sharing ideas is understood organically and where ideation and the prototypal eventually become
practice.
Important Dates
Last date for submission of application is April 26, 2015.
List of the shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the website by April 27, 2015.
Written test and/or interviews will be held during 11-12 May 2015.

Application Procedure
Masters degree in Arts/ Commerce/ Management with a minimum of 55% marks or
equivalent with UGC-NET or UGC-JRF qualification OR
Masters degree in Science/Engineering with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks with CSIRNET or GATE qualification OR
M.Phil. degree in the respective discipline being applied for with a minimum of 60% marks
or equivalent OR
B.Tech. from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 7.0.
Applicants for TA or RA fellowships should have qualified UGC - NET or GATE or CSIR NET or have MPhil degree. The Fellowship/Stipend will be as per Government norms
applicable.
SW (Sponsored WITHOUT Institute scholarship): Sponsored from a reputed Industrial or
Research organization. (Full time / Part time)
IS: Institute staff (part time) WITHOUT any scholarship from the Institute.
DF: Serving personnel in the defence forces WITHOUT any scholarship from the Institute.

Reservation and Relaxation:
Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ ST applicants. The reservation of
seats in admissions for SC, ST, OBC categories and for persons with disability (PD) will be as per
Government of India rules.
