I will still maintain an anonymous identity to ensure that I air out my views without hindrance. I shudder to imagine what my gay bosses, workmates and colleagues in high places would think of me because I have pretended to tolerate them… Anonymous AIDS professional taking part in SAFAIDS e-discussion, 2008 Recognition that LGBTI groups and experts need to be harnessed to support the growing capacity needs of mainstream AIDS organizations Global Fund • Board in November 2007 agreed to encourage proposals that address gender issues, with a particular reference to the vulnerability of women and girls and sexual minorities • The TRP is an independent, impartial team of experts which makes funding recommendations to the Global Fund Board • The public call for applications for up to five experts in gender and issues facing sexual minorities launched on 20 March and interested parties have until 1 April to complete and submit their applications www.hlsp.org/workingwithus/globalfund • Classic tension of national ownership/effectiveness and rights similar to many development projects • CCM and non CCM routes – including regional proposals Negotiating Global Fund Processes http://www.theglobalfund.org UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO online resource kit providing guidance in planning and writing strong Global Fund proposals www.unaids.org/en/KnowledgeCentre/Resources/FeatureStories/archive/200 9/20090128_GFtoolkit.asp Civil Society Action Team – hosted at ICASO (fact sheets on sexual minorities) UNAIDS and UNDP regional and country colleagues http://www.unaids.org/en/CountryResponses/Countries/default.asp [email protected] [email protected] Bilateral Donor Support DFID – Robin Gorna The Netherlands Irish AID Sweden France – political support UNAIDS Action Framework Universal Access MSM and Transgender Populations - UNDP Foundations and Academia Moves to pool support from a number of smaller progressive foundations – work in progress Elton John Foundation Comic Relief Ford Foundation?
