Report #2
14 Jun 2012
Summary:
In last two weeks I was with my mentor Omar Al-Amri in Valve group assisting him
and watch him solving some real problems our department received from some of
Aramco plants. They call us just if their experts in the plant itself couldn’t solve the
problem. Also, I have attended some meetings with my department with some
companies to check their products and if it follows Aramco standers like valves, tanks
and turbine atc... Also, I attended presentation called start right…stay right. It was
talking about the employee when he starts in his work he starts really good and
developing after a period of time his performance start decreasing.
Background:
In last week we received a call from Al-Karasaniah plant. They had a problem in one
of the pipes the problem was with the valve it was not closed completely so, there is
leaking from the valve. Our department with help from the engineers in the plant we
found that the type of the pipe was coated by concrete and the concrete was broken
and prevent the valve get closed after that they fix it be cleaning the valve.

Work done:
I have finish the courses were assigned for me through the computer by listening to
them. Also, we went to visit a company called Masabikn it under a bigger company
called Maadaniah it located in the second industrial city in Dammam. This company
is for casting it is really good company and it the first company for the first time in
the kingdom manufacturing valves and they just start doing it and they will do the
test for quality of these valves and I think they will pass it. They show us these
valves it something really good to start manufacturing these valve in our country and
I will show some pictures in the appendices.
Problems:
The most difficult problem we face was with that valve in Al-Karasaniah plant it took
a lot of time and work to find the problem and solve it. Because the problem was not
with valve it was with the type of the pipe because of that we spend a lot of time in
this problem.
Schedule:
Actually my schedule is from 7am to 4pm every day with break from 11: 30 am to
12:30 pm from Saturday to Wednesday.
Plans:
We have some work to do next week and also some meetings and visits. I will upload
some of the emails we received or my mentor Omar receive one of them was the
vivit for Masabik “Welcome Omar.
Your presence as LMDP coordinator is highly needed and appreciated. We are planning
to conduct the visit to Masabik on Tuesday @ 08:30.
Masabik has poured the first 6” casting for Flowserve Abahsain one month ago and sent
to the U.S. for analysis by Flowserve people and external labs.
Regards,
Abdullah Melfi”
