The above candidate is applying to the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics (see www.rgsecon.org). We kindly ask you to write a recommendation helping us to assess the applicant’s
ability to successfully participate in our three-year Ph.D. program in Economics. The Ruhr
Graduate School in Economics (RGS Econ) is a center for research and higher education in
Economics. It is initiated and founded by three universities of the Ruhr-area (Bochum, Dortmund
and Duisburg-Essen), and by RWI Essen, one of Germany's leading economic research
institutes.
The RGS Econ is looking worldwide for applicants with an excellent academic record and a
Master, Diploma or equivalent degree in economics or related fields. The PhD program offers
postgraduate education in all relevant fields of modern economics, covering theoretical and
empirical methods in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, labor economics and
industrial economics.
We are aware of the time burden this request imposes on you and hope that our guidelines will
