Three Still Tied at the Top at U.S. Kids Golf World Championship
Boys 8 division up for grabs at Mid Pines Golf Club
PINEHURST, N.C. – Nine more holes of play did nothing to separate the Boys 8 field at the World
Championship, as three players remain tied for the lead at 1-under-par 71. Eric Klutke of Crystal Lake, Ill.,
Xi Pu of Chongqin, China, and Shaheen Momin of Sugar Land, Texas, all share a piece of the lead
heading to Saturday’s final round.
The World Championship is the largest junior golf tournament in the world. The three-day event is held
August 2-4, 2012, in Pinehurst and Southern Pines, N.C. The field is made up of over 1,200 players from
39 countries. The Boys 8 division played the back nine of Mid Pines Golf Club at 2,088 yards.
Klutke bogeyed No. 2 before recording birdies on Nos. 5-7 to post a 2-under-par 34, the round of the day.
Pu also carded an early bogey, this one on No. 1, but finished with two birdies and six pars to post a 1under-par 35. Momin played a mistake-free round of 35 with a birdie on No. 1 and eight pars the rest of
the way.
Jeevan Sihota of Victoria, Canada, is only one stroke behind at even-par 72, while Gavin Aurilia of
Phoenix, Carter Loflin of Duluth, Ga., and Logan Paczewski of Dallas, Pa., share fifth place at 2-over-par
74.
