INTRODUCTION
First of all, thanks for your interest in Venture Cup Mentor Program!
Mentoring is known to be an effective tool to achieve better
personal and professional development, for both the mentor and
the mentee. In our program, you can expect a strong “human
interaction” with our coordinators. We are genuinely interested
in knowing our mentors and startups. After all, communication
is more effective when the people involved know each other. We
know from experience that startups and mentors who have met
our coordinators in person have a much more enjoyable and
fruitful experience in the program. You are encouraged to reach
out to us any time, whether you want to share feedback, praise,
complain, ask a question or simply say hi.
This catalogue is designed for you to get the best understanding
of how the mentor program works, what we want to achieve, what
we expect from you, what you can expect from us, and what will
happen next at any point in time.
Best regards, the mentor program team.

application
A great mentorship begins with a great application. This is an
important step since the data you provide to us creates the
foundation upon which we will be able to match you with a great
counterpart in the future - the better data, the more likely we are
to find you the perfect match!. This is how it goes:

welcome call
welcome call
Within two weeks after applying, we will give you a welcome call,
introducing you to the program, clarifying any questions you may
have about the program and inform you about the next steps.
early stage startups
Some startup applicants have great ideas,
but they are too early stage for mentors to
help them effectively. If we deem your idea
to be early stage, we have a special path
called “Early Stage Service” designed to
help entrepreneurs define their business
model and identify key challenges.
The Early Stage Service consists of a
workshop where we discuss topics like idea
validation, business model, pitching and
early stage funding, and a development
talk with us (face-to-face/Skype). Once
the idea is structured enough, startups
will be eligible for regular matching.
6 month mentorship
The 6 Months Mentorship is the core development path offered
by the Mentor Program and the default mentoring framework for
startups. It consists of a relationship-driven mentorship between
one startup and one mentor.

matching
After your application has been approved, the matching process is
the initial step in the 6 months mentorship. The matching happens
in one of two ways:
Twice a year we host a Speed Matching Event
where startups and mentors can meet, and
hopefully find the perfect match (read more in
the “Events”-section).
Based on the information provided to us in your
application form, Venture Cup will find a match
according to the needs of the startups and the
professional skill set of the mentors.
Startups are also more than welcome to scan the network of
mentors on our website (www.venturecup.dk/mentor). Here,
you can find a brief description of each mentor’s background
and professional skills. Venture Cup is always happy to receive
matching suggestions from the startups.
Upon finding a match, the startup’s business plan will be
sent to the potential mentor. If the mentor accepts, his/her
contact details are sent to the startup. It is now the startup’s
responsibility to contact the mentor and book the 1st Meeting.
meet mentorbot
To ensure a great experience during the 6 months, our chatbot
“MentorBot” will contact you three times with a very brief checkup.
Conversations with the bot run on the Facebook Messenger app,
making it fast and easy for you to evaluate the mentorship(s) and
give us feedback.
Make sure you have talked to MentorBot before starting the
mentorship, otherwise the system won’t work and he won’t be able
to reach you. Bots are the future, you might aswell start today!
Click the link below, your facebook messenger will open, and
then simply follow the onboarding conversation. Now you’re
good to go and ready to be matched.

EVENTS
SPEED MATCHING
During these events, startups and mentors can meet personally
and discuss the possibility of a mentorship. First, startups pitch
for 2 minutes each in front of a group of mentors. Subsequently,
both sides engage in turn-based face-to-face conversations where
they present themselves and discuss the startup’s challenges. At
the end, mentors and startups choose whom to be matched with
in order of priority, similarly to a speed-dating setup.
FLASH MENTORING
A one-time mentoring event where mentors can meet two startups.
It’s a 2-hour event, divided in two, 45 minutes-long, one-on-one
sessions. Prior to the event, the startups book a session with a
mentor. It’s a great option for mentors who have limited time
but still want to meet and help great startups. For startups, this
is a unique chance to get inputs on either long-term topics, e.g.
strategy or business model, or on more urgent challenges.
GROUP MENTORING
Group mentoring sessions brings in multiple levels of expertise
and knowledge as each mentor brings in their own competencies.
To secure a structured mentoring session, a facilitator will ask
questions to keep the dialogue thought-provoking and meaningful.
Thus, the grounds for a fruitful, constructive and solution oriented
dialogue are laid.
MENTOR TRAINING
The exclusive mentor training event is meant to update the
mentors on our newest strategies regarding the structure of the
program and to give a holistic view of the mentoring process. The
event includes workshops on strategies for efficient mentoring
and networking sessions as it is our mission to build a community
where mentors and startups are developing together.
