QuadKids year 5 & 6 Boys & Girls Eligibility; The competition is a Team event. Teams of 8 pupils; 4 Boys + 4 Girls. (1 reserve permitted in each gender in case of injury) Year 5 and/or Year 6 pupils. Facility; Athletics track Separate throwing area if running in conjunction with running stations. Equipment: Vortex Javelin Howlers x 3 Starting, timing, measuring equipment. Format: Each pupil will take part in four events. 1. Vortex Howler Throw 2. 600m Sprint 3. Standing Long Jump 4. 75m sprint Each athlete is placed in a pool and rotates across the four activities. Pupils are scored against “standards” on each event. Boys and girls scores are combined to give an overall team score. At the end of the quad kids meet an overall team winner. A local decision can be made to award an individual boy and girl to be declared based on overall highest points total over the four events. Pathway It is expected that 4 teams will progress from each Borough to the North London Final. Other Information - Rules Each athlete competes in all 4 events. Time or distance for each event is measured against a standard point scoring table and the better the performance the higher the points scored. The points from each event are added together to give the aggregate points or Quadkids score for that athletes. If an athlete misses an event or in the case of a race does not finish they score zero points. If an athlete completes an event but records a time or distance below the lower end of the points scale, they receive the minimum 10 point score for that event. If an athlete records a time or distance above the upper end of the points scale, they will be given the maximum 100 points. For an individual competition where two athletes are tied on equal points and a winner is required the athlete with the highest points score in their weakest event will be the winner.
