Entry Guidelines HOW TO ENTER OR NOMINATE A COMPANY OR INDIVIDUAL: All entries for The ESTnet Awards 2016 should be made online at: www.estnetawards.co.uk Before you go online to submit your entry please make sure you have the following: 1. Your 1,000 word entry saved in PDF format This should explain why your entry merits an award and should include sections covering the following: Background to the business or individual nominated. The reasons why your entry should win based on criteria for that particular award (found under the relevant category information). Your supporting document – this can contain images / artwork / clippings / other media A high resolution version of your logo or the logo of the organisation you are nominating if available (suitable for print i.e. high resolution JPEG, PDF or PNG file at least 300dpi) A 100 word description of your organisation for publicity / promotional purposes. AWARD CATEGORIES Company of the Year Who can enter? Any company within the software, electronic and technology sectors in Wales can be nominated. N.B. This category is by nomination only. If you have worked with a customer, supplier or partner in the last few months who deserve to be rewarded for their achievements, then please put them forward for the award. What the Judges will look for: This award will recognise exceptional business achievement in a technology company of any size based in Wales. This achievement could be any area of business practice, perhaps one or more of the below: • Made significant breakthroughs with an innovative new product or service • Accessed new markets and customers • Created new jobs • Displayed exceptional customer service • Significant increase in operational and financial performance • Social and environmental impact • Overcome significant challenges and barriers. Any company within the software, electronic and technology sectors in Wales whose business started after 1 January 2014. What the Judges will look for Wales is has a growing reputation as a hub for innovative, young technology companies. The Sir Michael Moritz Tech Start-up Award award recognises those who have achieved success in a short space of time and have the potential to grow and thrive in the near future. Judges will look for evidence of: • A disruptive new product or service that satisfies customer needs. • Company growth and growth potential • Exceptional customer service • Social and environmental awareness • Potential for international trade. To nominate your company for this prestigious award please click here. Innovative Product of the Year Who can enter? Any company within the software, electronic and technologies sectors in Wales. What the judges will look for The award will be given to the company that can demonstrate business improvement thanks to the development of an innovative product, which must be a physical piece of equipment. Judges will look for evidence of: • Business benefit; either actual or likely future impact on the business. This includes job creation/retention, environmental benefits and customer delight. • Evidence of innovative technology • Research and development, including time to market Only development to prototype stage is expressly excluded from this award. To enter please click here. Innovative Software Package or Application of the Year Who can enter? Any company within the software, electronic and technologies sectors in Wales. What the judges will look for The award will be given to the company that can demonstrate business improvement thanks to the development of an innovative software package or application. Judges will look for evidence of: • Business benefit; either actual or likely future impact on the business. This includes job creation/retention, environmental benefits and customer delight. • Evidence of innovative technology • Research and development, including time to market Only development to prototype stage is expressly excluded from this award. Any practising engineer from an electronic, software or technology company in Wales during the last 12 months and who will be under 30 years of age on the closing date for applications. Applicants can nominate themselves or be nominated by their company. What the judges will look for Exemplary service to the company and its customers which has contributed to business success for their employer in terms of competitiveness, growth or innovation. Applicants should show evidence of technical competence and professional integrity in areas such as: • Hardware or software design and development • Research • Process development or improvement • Innovative engineering and software solutions • Product ideas and creation • Product or customer support The above is not an exhaustive list. Any current apprentice from an electronic, software or technology company in Wales during the last 12 months. Applicants can nominate themselves or be nominated by their company. What the judges will look for Exemplary service to the company and its customers which has contributed to business success for their employer in terms of competitiveness, growth or innovation. Applicants should show evidence of technical competence and professional integrity in areas such as: • Hardware or software design and development • Research • Process development or improvement • Innovative engineering and software solutions • Product ideas and creation • Product or customer support The above is not an exhaustive list. Anyone currently working in the electronic, software and technology sectors in Wales who has inspired others through their achievements. This Award is by nomination only. Nominations can be received from co-workers, suppliers or customers. What judges will look for • Evidence of individuals who have proved themselves to be an excellent role model for colleagues. • Evidence that they have overcome obstacles in the workplace. • Evidence that they have inspired others in the industry through their achievements. • Evidence of pioneering behaviour, for example breaking down perceived barriers within the industry and paved the way for others to follow. Any company within the software, electronic and technology sectors in Wales who have successfully worked in collaboration with another business or a school, college or university. What judges will look for The Collaborative Partnership prize will be awarded to the company that demonstrates how the business and the chosen partner have benefited from the collaboration, this may include: • Impact of the collaboration on the business • Impact of the collaboration on the partner organisation and local community • Evidence of sharing expertise for the mutual benefit of all within the partnership • Customer and industry recognition.
