LIABILITY WAIVER AND MEDIA RELEASE
The event, named Big Brothers Big Sisters The BIG Dig, will be referred to hereinafter called “BBBS The BIG Dig”. I understand that sand
volleyball is a physical sport and that players and/or onlookers and/or property can at times by injured or damaged by both dangers foreseen and
unforeseen. I understand that these injuries or damage are part of the game of volleyball and I also understand that these injuries can occur at no
fault of those who sponsor the event or those who volunteer at the event. These injuries can range from (1) minor injuries such as scratches,
bruises, and sprains; (2) major injuries such as eye injury or loss of sight, joint, or back injuries, heart attacks, and concussions; (3) catastrophic
injuries including paralysis or death. With that in mind, I have read and signed the following disclaimer which relieves those who sponsor and/or
volunteer at the event from liability in regards to these potential injuries, dangers, and accidents, which I realize may occur during the event.
I agree to the fullest extent permitted by law to defend, pay on behalf, indemnify, and hold harmless and free from liability Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Grand Island and all of its members, agents, representatives, and employees, as well as Westside Lanes and all of its members, agents,
representatives, and employees from any and all claims, demands, suits, damages, and loss, including any and all outlay and expense connected
therewith resulting in any bodily injury or property damage which arises out of or in connection with player’s actions or activities associated with
the player’s use of Westside Lanes facilities, and operations conducted by the player or any participant in the activity, including spectator
activity, or arising from any neglect, default, mismanagement, or omissions in performance of any duties imposed upon the undersigned by this
permit or law. The player also agrees to pay Westside Lanes and/or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grand Island for all damages caused to Westside
Lanes and/or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grand Island property resulting from actions and activities associated with the use of the facilities.
Further, the player agrees to be liable for any damage to the facilities and/or equipment, except for normal wear and tear resulting in this use, and
to pay in a timely fashion any and all costs associated with returning the facilities and/or equipment to the condition that existed prior to said use.
I acknowledge that photographs or videotapes may be taken during BBBS The BIG Dig and allow reproductions of these photographic materials
to be used in newsletters, displays, promotional exhibits, brochures, television and/or radio advertisements, Facebook, Twitter, and other forms
of media deemed appropriate by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff and/or Westside Lanes staff.
I acknowledge that I am signing this waiver and release freely and voluntarily and intend by my signature to be a complete and unconditional
release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law. I am at least 19 years of age or older and otherwise competent to execute this waiver
and release.

Facility Rules at Westside Lanes
 NO outside food or drink is to be brought into the building or volleyball courts.
 No pets allowed.
 Cigarette butts belong in ashtray cans/containers.
 Keep the sand out of the bowling alley. It will ruin the bowling shoes and cause problems with the lanes.
 Do not spit sunflower seeds/chewing tobacco/etc. into the court area.
 All children must be supervised by an adult at all times, including inside the building.
 Do not clean sand off in the bathroom.
 NO glass outside or in the court area.
Sportsmanship
 Teams will officiate their own games.
 When a dispute/disagreement occurs on a call, the ball will be re-served.
 Team captains are responsible for the conduct of their team players.
 If there are three complaints/violations of the rules reported to BBBS staff, the team will be ejected from play and the
remainder of their games forfeited.
General Rules
 A team needs at least three players present to start, with one female present.
 Teams need to alternate male/female in the positions on the court.
Game Rules
 Rally scoring will be used for this tournament.
 Rally scoring is to 21. Win by 2 or the first to 25.
 Players cannot block or attempt to block serve.
 Legal hits include those off the head or feet.
 Poles and wires from the edge of the nets are out of bounds.
 A female must touch the ball unless the ball is returned on the serve.
 Single Elimination Tournament.
If any change is required to these listed rules, it will be announced by BBBS staff the day of the tournament, with copies
distributed to each team captain upon sign-in.
