WELCOME!
Dear Third Grade Families,
Welcome to our 3rd grade class! I am Ms. Brittany Heath and I am thrilled to be your 3rd grade
teacher this year! I hope that everyone has enjoyed their summer break and is ready for an
exciting new year. We are going to have a wild year learning, growing, and collaborating
together in our goal oriented classroom!
A little about me! I was born in Phoenix, Arizona and moved to Minnesota for college. I
graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota. After 5 years, I decided to
move back to this hot, beautiful state we call Arizona. I have two “fur-babies”, little
Chihuahuas, Mia and Hazel. Outside of school I enjoy movies, softball, and relaxing in my cold
swimming pool. I have taught 3rd grade for four years, and this will be my second year at
fabulous EDUPRIZE!
In 3rd grade we will be exploring four 9-week thematic units. At EDUPRIZE we call these units
“cottages.” The cottages for 3rd grade are Exploration Station, Aquarium, Desert Lab, and
Plant Nursery. Each cottage is full of hands-on learning experiences which each teach the
Arizona state standards. We will also be tackling new reading, writing, and math skills.
Every week I will also be incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
activities into our classroom. I believe learning should be geared towards 21st century skills
and students should be challenged in problem solving all while practicing positive collaboration
with their classmates.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you at our Open House Adventure Party!

When: Monday, July 24th
Time: 10:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m.
I will be in the classroom most of the day if you are unable to come in during the suggested
time frame. However, this is your chance to meet me and your fellow classmates, drop off
any supplies you have purchased for our classroom, receive carpool information, and pick-up
and complete other important paperwork. PLEASE print off all important paperwork on the
EDUPRIZE’s website and bring it in during meet the teacher. This will save you so much time!
Our first day of school is Wednesday, July 26th. In order for you to maintain enrollment at
EDUPRIZE, you must attend the full day and be on time. Please wait outside for me and we
will walk in the building together at 7:55 a.m. Our 3rd grade hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. Monday – Thursday and 8:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m. Fridays.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and I’m sure that we will have a fabulous year of
laughter and learning ahead of us. I am excited for our partnership and to see how much

PLEASE PRINT the Open House Forms ONLINE and bring the completed forms to your child's
teacher.
Please bring the following supplies with you to the Adventure Party on Monday, July 24th.
Please reuse any supplies from last year if you can!
Please write your child’s name on the following items:
(1) One-inch white binder with clear plastic cover (Writer’s Workshop)
(1) Pencil box
(1) Package of Crayola crayons OR
(1) Package of Crayola colored pencils
(3) Notebooks (1 green, 1 black, 1 purple)
(1) Pair of ear buds or headphones that are comfortable for your child and easy to
store in their bin. (ear buds fit great in mint cans for easy storage)
(5) Pocket folders (1 green, 1 black, 1 purple, 1 orange 1 of your choice)
(1) Pink Plastic folder (Sturdy take home folder for homework)
$6 for Scholastic News subscription (This will be used in class throughout the year.
An envelope will be provided for you. Please make checks payable to EDUPRIZE PTN.)
