RadiusPLUS Win First Prize at Product Innovation
Event With MiniMuss Branch Saddle Technology
RadiusPLUS have been awarded first prize for their next generation MiniMuss branch saddle
technology at a Product Innovation event organised by the Pipeline Industries Guild Northern Branch,
CIWEM North Wales & North Western and UKSTT, in collaboration with United Utilities.
The award was delivered in recognition of the
huge benefits brought to the water and gas
distribution sectors by the development of their
new design MiniMuss branch saddle connection
range, which offers simple and cost effective
options to water and gas engineers when they
want to make under pressure connections or
repairs to polyethylene pipelines, with minimal
excavation.
The MiniMuss branch saddles are manufactured
in RadiusPLUS’s state of the art production cell,
with unique capabilities to produce made to
measure branch saddles that can fit any pipe size.
This feature is of particular value when pipes have
been installed using swage® technology, as
previously, no simple solution existed to make an
under pressure connection to a PE pipe used as a
liner, without large excavations and interruption
of gas or water supplies. In addition, the wider
access hole now available through the large
diameter MiniMuss branch saddle outlet, allows
for innovative flow stopping tools to be deployed,
for cost beneficial flow stopping operations.
Norman Howell, the Pipeline Industries Guild’s
national chairman, who presented RadiusPLUS’s
Dave Macdonald with the award, commented on
RadiusPLUS’s win: “the MiniMuss branch saddles
meet all of the key elements that the judging
panel were looking for in a new innovation, since
they offer a significant improvement on current
practice from both an operational and cost
perspective. I would like to congratulate
RadiusPLUS on the development of this product
which will certainly assist pipeline network
owners in reducing the costs of their asset
rehabilitation programmes.”
The Product Innovation day is an annual event,
where suppliers to the gas and water industries
are invited to showcase innovative products and
services not widely recognised within the
industry. Representatives from Balfour Beatty,
Steve Vick, MGF, Hy-Ram, Cascade, E-MIGS and
Plant & Site Services also attended the event.
