CONTRACT FOR COACHING SERVICES – HEAD TENNIS COACH
Between the Head Coach and Sutton Tennis and Squash Club, identified within this
contract as “the club”
1. This agreement will commence on XXX and will be reviewed termly thereafter.
2. The Head Coach will be accountable to a panel, selected by the Tennis
Committee, and will be appraised annually where the coaching plan and targets
for the forthcoming year April – March will be reviewed.
3. The financial agreement between the Head Coach and “the Club” will be
reassessed annually in March.
4. The Head Coach will be responsible for and reactive to all tennis at “the Club”
5. The Head Coach will be self-employed.
6. The Head Coach will have honorary membership of “the Club” during the period
of the contract.
7. The Head Coach must be LTA qualified and licensed to a minimum of level 3:
Coach qualification and provide “the Club” with a Criminal Records Bureau
certificate and also a First Aid Certificate for display on the noticeboard. The
Head Coach should also be fully trained in LTA guidelines on Child Protection.
8. The Head Coach is responsible for providing his or her own public liability
insurance to the value of £2.5million, and for ensuring that any assistant coaches
engaged are also covered. The Head Coach will provide “the Club” with an up-todate copy of his insurance policy.
9. No other person may coach at the club, except with the prior consent of the Head
Coach.
10. The Head Coach may determine his own hourly rate for private lessons, which
should be in accordance with LTA recommendations and paid directly to the
Head Coach. No private coaching may take place on the top terrace during
evenings and at weekends.
11. The Head Coach will pay a facility fee per term to be agreed with the Club
Secretary, payable to “the Club” in the second week of each term. This fee will be
reviewed annually.
12. All income from the coaching programme will be paid directly to the Head Coach.
Coaching for non-members will be charged at a premium rate and the premium
split 60/40 in favour of “the Club”. “The Club’s” share will be remitted to “the Club”
at the end of each term.
13. The Head Coach will organise the appointment of coaches to cover the coaching
duties set out in the coaching programmes or to satisfy additional coaching
demand. The Head Coach is responsible for using suitably qualified, CRB
checked and insured coaches and for fixing an appropriate charging rate. Such
coaches will be managed by the Head Coach and paid directly by the Head
Coach. Copies of coaching and CRB certificates will be provided to “the Club”.
14. The coaching team will have priority on Court 7 for private lessons. Priority
between coaches to be decided by the Head Coach.
15. Non-members taking coaching lessons will be signed in as guests and will pay to
“the Club” a guest fee at the rate in force (currently £5) and be bound by the rules
of “the club”.
16. Coaches will pay for floodlights when coaching members or non-members at the
concessionary rate of £2 per hour, to be reviewed annually.
17. The Head Coach is responsible for purchasing all tennis equipment, including but
not limited to balls, mini-tennis nets and rackets.
18. The Head Coach will be responsible for health and safety on the court.
19. The Head Coach shall have access to the club office and suitable storage space
for tennis equipment and will maintain a high standard of tidiness in both these
areas.
20. The Head Coach shall ensure they present themselves in a professional manner
at all times and that any coaches they recruit maintain the same high standards
21. The Head Coach will have the right to advertise his/her services at “the Club”.
Other coaches may advertise with the permission of the Head Coach and the
Club Secretary.
22. All marketing material and coaching programmes shall state that: “Payment is
made to the Head Coach and not to STSC. Reimbursement of sessions
cancelled due to bad weather, sickness or other reason is the responsibility of the
Head Coach”
23. The Head Coach will have use of “the Club’s” stationery, photocopier, telephone
and internet for the purposes of publicising coaching at “the club” and for no other
purpose.
24. A term’s notice in writing is required by either side for termination of this
agreement.
25. This agreement may be terminated immediately by “the Club” in the case of a
breach of conditions, or gross misconduct
26. The job description for the Head Coach forms part of this agreement.
