Installation and Update
The following setup procedures are tested with MicroSoft Windows and Apple OSX systems. For
other operating systems, please contact MedVoxel support or your local IT support for special
instructions.
1. Adobe Air Runtime, http://get.adobe.com/air/
Please download the latest version of Adobe Air run-time from the web site and install it at
the
local computers where you want to upload DICOM images to MedVoxel server.
2. MedVoxel FileUploader Installation
After the installation of Adobe Air Run-time, in Firebox browser, entering the following link
to install MedVoxel file upload tool, FileUploader.
https://server1.medvoxel.com/site1/FileUploader.air
An icon will be installed on your desktop as well when the FileUploader is successfully
installed in your computer.
3. MedVoxel FileUploader Update
Shutdown FileUploader in your computer and then enter the following link in the FireFox
browser.
https://server1.medvoxel.com/site1/FileUploader.air.
A update window will automatically pop up to take you through the update process.

Getting Started
You will see the following screen when you start the FileUploader application.
Step 1: Setup MedVoxel site URL to upload images
The facesheet shall provide you the correct web site URL. If it is different then the one in the
facesheet, you can enter that URL into “New URL” field and click “Save URL”.
The URL must start with “https://”. The MedVoxel web site is setup to accept only secured
communication method from FileUploader.
Step 2: Setup image home directory
We recommend you to have a common directory/folder to store images. You have two methods to
setup “Image Home” directory.
1. Type the absolute path of image home directory in your computer into “New Image Home”
field and click “Save Image Home” button.
2. Use the folder navigation tool to find the directory and click “Save Image Home” button.
The lower part of the screen is the folder and image list. If an item is a folder, you will see the items
with underline bar.
You can navigate the folders in your computer by clicking on those underline items and go back to
upper folder by clicking on the “Parent Directory” line.
Next time you use FileUploader, it will automatically list all of images in the “Image Home”
directory.
Step 3: User name and password
You need to use the user credential provided in the facesheet to pass the security check.
Step 4: Set the study type prior uploading images
MedVoxel server support several types of studies. In order to properly decide the type of images,
you will need to choose one of the supported study types.
If there is no study type selected, a warning message will be provided.
Step 5: Upload images
Ensure you are in the correct directory that contains the images and click “Upload Images ...”
button.
If you have multiple sets of images to upload, we recommend you to upload them on study basis.
Alternative, you can put all of images into the image home directory and upload them in one upload
action.
After the images been uploaded to MedVoxel web site, those images will be deleted automatically
from the directory.
Step 6: Refresh Image List
After the images are uploaded, you can click on “Refresh Image list” button. If you put another set
of images into the image home directory, those images will be listed. Immediately, you can upload
those images quickly.
