How to use data in My Products to improve your performance?
My Products tell the overall performance of all your products and the detailed performance of each product.
So, how to understand and apply those data to improve your performance? We will share with you some
useful tips to let you:

1. Understand your overall performance
First of all, please understand that your performance on Alibaba.com is more than the number of inquiries you
receive. You are suggested to also understand the views and clicks received by your products to get a larger
picture of your performance and to learn how to make improvement more efficiently.
Let’s take below supplier as an example.
In the second week of Dec 2012, the total number of views received by this supplier is 11408, about 1600
times each day, which is good as a whole. The total number of clicks received by the supplier in that week is
126, about 18 times each day, which is also quite good.
However, if going into more details, we could know that for his 853 products with performance during that
week, each product get only 13 views and 0.15 clicks on average, which is not satisfactory.
It’s possible that among all the products posted by the member, there are some products which are much
more popular than others among buyers by getting more views and clicks.
By sorting out the products under “Products with Performance” according to their Views, Clicks and Inquiries
received, we could find out what those products with better popularity are and focus on further improving
them. It may give the supplier a stronger push up in improving his overall performance. We will explain them
in more details in the section “3. Find out your products with better popularity” below.

2. Locate list of products without performance
In case any of your products has not got any Views, Clicks or Inquiries for more than 15 days, you could find
the list under the “Products without Performance” section.
There could be many reasons for your products to get no performance in 15 days. In most cases, you may find
that such products are identical products or products with too poor quality information.
Among the “products without performance”, let’s first check if there are any duplicate or identical products.
Please note that for duplicate or identical products, even if their product photos may be different, when they
have identical product names and descriptions, they are regarded as one same product in the search ranking.
Take the supplier below as an example. If we search with the of the product names of the products without
performance, “Leather Jacket Fashion motorbike”, we find that there are 31 products with this same product
name.
If we check the 31 products one by one, we could find that, besides a different product photo, all of them have
the same information in product subject, product attributes, payment and shipping terms and detailed
description. Also, they did not receive any performance for above 180 days.
In addition, you could check in the “Listing Optimization Tool” under “Products” to see if there are any
“Duplicate Products”. As shown in the screenshot below, the supplier has 98 Duplicate Products, among them
about there are about 40 duplicate products named “Leather Jacket Fashion motorbike”.

The supplier has spent efforts to display about 40 products of leather jackets, however most of his “Leather
Jacket Fashion motorbike” did not receive any performance for above 180 days. Actually, each of the “Leather
Jacket Fashion motorbike” products has high quality product information, with detailed product attributes and
detailed description. However, as they are duplicated products, they are regarded as only one product in the
search ranking, and therefore are wasting the time and efforts spent by the supplier.
The supplier is suggested to optimize those duplicate or identical products by giving different products names
with various modifiers, different product attributes according to the actual color and feature of the specific
product and also different detailed descriptions.
Besides duplicate or identical products, it’s possible that those products without performance are set with too
poor information, such as a simple product name, few product attributes and little detailed descriptions. As
you know, high quality product information is important for your products to get better ranking and get more
exposure in buyer search.

3. Find out your products with better popularity
Let’s rank the products of this supplier under “Products with Performance” according to views, clicks and
inquiries to find out the products with better popularity and also tips to revise them.

Let’s first rank the products by the weekly inquiries they receive.
We could find that the first product got 2 inquiries out of the 6 clicks it received. The conversion rate is very
high. It’s very likely that this product is popular among buyers and also the information posted in this product
is attractive to buyers.
If this product is also one of the main products the supplier wants to promote, here are some suggestions to
this supplier:
1) Check in “My Keywords”, another tool under “My Performance”, the current ranking of this product under
the queries indicated in “Buyer Query with Views”. If the ranking is not good, we could work on improving
the exposure of this product to help it get more clicks and inquiries.
2) Add this product in Product Showcase to further improve its exposure to bring the supplier more inquiries
from this product.
Now, let’s rank the products by the weekly clicks they receive.

From the data above, we could learn that the first product got 8 clicks out of the 331 views in that week.
Comparatively speaking, the conversion rate from views to clicks of the second product is much higher as it
got 4 clicks out of only 16 views. In other words, the first product is more popular in buyer search, while the
second product of the supplier is much stronger in attracting buyers to click on it.
Also, from the screenshot above, we could obviously find out that the Product Photo of the second product is
much clearer with a white background and a single item, which are usually helpful to attract buyers to click on
the product.
With the data above, here are some suggestions for this supplier:
1) Optimize the information of the first product to make it more attractive in the search result page. The
supplier is suggested to upload a better product photo, give a more detailed product name with various
modifiers, add more detailed product attributes, and giving the FOB Price and Min. Order of the product.
Such information are all listed in the product search result page and are useful to better draw buyer’s
attention in clicking the product.
2) Add the second product in Product Showcase to improve its exposure and views to bring the supplier
more inquiries from this product.
Finally, let’s rank the products by the weekly views they receive.
The first product with the most views, unfortunately, got no clicks and inquiries in that week. The PS logo on
the top right end of its product photo means this is a product added in Product Showcase. We could tell that
Product Showcase is helpful to increase the exposure of products.
Also, from the “Buyer Query with Views”, we could tell that “scissors” is popular among buyer query and helps
the supplier get many views. If we could increase the clicks of this first product, it would be very useful to
improve its promotion effect.
As mentioned above, to increase the clicks of products, we could work to optimize those information
displayed in the product search list page to better draw buyer’s attention in clicking the product. Such
information includes the product photo, product name, product attributes and the FOB Price and Min. Order

of the product.
Meanwhile, you could also check in “My Keywords” to learn the ranking of the products under those keywords
listed in “Buyer Query with Views”. If the ranking of the products are not good, it’s also possible that although
those products get exposed in buyer search and get good views, as they did not rank in the first few pages of
search result, buyers actually did not see them which resulted in low clicks.
In this case, besides optimizing the product information, it’s also suggested to increase the supplier quality of
the member. Suppliers who are willing and capable to provide services to buyers have more advantages to get
higher ranking. To improve supplier quality, members should work to give a detailed Company Profile, stay
active in Alibaba account, provide prompt response to buyer’s query and improve the variety of products on
the account.
