Purpose of the PLC Continuum (“Road Map”)
1) Sustain and optimize PLCs across D11 in a systematic
manner
2) Support teams as they progress along the PLC Journey:
• Provide clarity and a “road map” for teams
• Reflection tool for teams
• Coaching tool for teams, coaches, teacher leaders &
principals
• Resources to support teams
Purpose of the Process
• Integrate meaningful input regarding PLCs from
diverse interests across district
• Engage and learn from one another to shape a
better PLC process
• Share ownership in order to establish long term
sustainability of effective collaborative teams*
• Develop iterative feedback loops to improve the
resource
Many layers of involvement and engagement
• This process (beyond the extensive PD and embedded support
provided across the district) engaged educators from across the
spectrum:
50 as the Guiding Coalition
65 through Feedback loops with department chairs and TLCs
130 through K12 feedback and coaching practice
70 through the January 10th work session with PLC Leadership Academy,
Guiding Coalition, and invitation
• Frequent collaboration among 7 district coaches as members of the
writing team

Implementation Considerations for Fall
• Train the Trainers workshop
• Have all teams use the tool and set goals, action steps from where
they are as a team
• Quarterly follow up with coaches and ongoing, embedded support
• Gather feedback from stakeholders to improve tool & process
• Consider incentives to motivate teacher leaders in their role
• Redesign PLC Leadership Academy as a train the trainer academy for
SY 2017-18
