praise and is impressed with the skill set of the girls who are attending
workouts.
The JV Coach position has not been filled. Still searching for a JV Coach,
however, WA will hire a temporary coach to assist in the interim.

schedule. More information to follow.
This year, the team will have its own locker room. The players will be allowed
to decorate their lockers. Players must provide their own locks.

c. Camp Information – WA will not attend an outside camp this summer. Coach
feels the team would be better serve to workout at the school. In addition, he
will conduct a camp for 6th – 9th grade players. The camp will be supported by
the coaching staff and 10th – 12th grade players
2. Treasurer Update – Dawna K.
a. Dawna passed out and reviewed the budget/individual account info. No new
information.
3. Concession Stand - Laura
a. The Allegheny County Health Department inspected the football concession
stand this past year. As part of the ACHD policy and code language, all school
concession programs are not permitted to sell food that has been
cooked/prepared at someone’s home.
This policy will impact our profits moving forward. Laura is in contact with
Congressman Tim Murphy’s office to get clarification on non-profit organization
rights. In addition, Laura has reached out to Jim Sheridan (WA Food Services)
to see if we can use the cafeteria to prepared cooked items.
A question was raised regarding the legality of purchasing food prepared at
restaurants and then warmed and served at the concession stand. Laura is
checking into this option.
4. MAC Tournament - Laura
a. It is official; WA will host a 12 team tournament at the High School. In an
effort to generate more program funds, Dave McBain is exploring the option to
host a JV tournament as well. The issue at this time is staffing. Dawna Keeley
will check with the National Honors Society Members and see if they are willing
to support/work the tournaments.
5. MSA Sports Network – Laura
a. MSA broadcasts local schools sporting events. There is a fee to participate in
the program; however, we have received a donation to cover the cost to
participate. WA Volleyball will have two games broadcasted this season and
the playoffs. Dates to be determined and information to follow.
6. Equipment Purchases - Laura
a. Attack Machine - Coach Begor has met with the Athletic Director and has
been given permission to purchase an “Attack Machine”. This piece of
equipment is used to serve balls at various speeds, position, etc. Coach Begor
believes it will enhance the training and development process of the players.
Total cost of the machine is $3100. Since it was not budgeted, the school can
only pick up $1635 of the cost. The WA Booster Committee has agreed to pay
the $1435 balance. The unit should be on-site in 1-2 weeks.

f. Tim Ryan – Team/Player Pictures
Tim Ryan has indicated he will continue to support the WA VB program and will
provide his photography services. The attendees were asked to think about
how best to recognize & reward Tim for his efforts. Please forward your ideas
to the booster committee members.
g. Car Wash – Laura
Laura indicated there has been no interest from players to conduct a car wash.
The board and meeting attendees feel this is still a viable fund raising activity
and would like to schedule dates. Gail Lesko will identify potential dates. The
location will be the Shell Fuel Station in Clinton, PA.
h. Aramark – Laura
Due to taxing laws and liability, WA VB can no longer work under the Baldwin
HS Booster organization, which worked under Pitt Elite’s 501C non-profit
status. This latest development jeopardizes our ability to work at Aramark
events and fund raise. However, the West Allegheny Foundation is allowing
the WA VB organization to work/use their 501C status. So as it stands, we can
still participate in the Aramark fund raising program. Our booths are not
impacted. Please contact Arlette or Laura if you have questions.
