Chapter 1 Overview
§1.1
Preface
“TH” series intelligent high-frequency switch power supply modules are specially developed to meet
the demands of modern DC system. The charger rectifiers are designed with world leading patent
technology “resonant voltage type soft switching power supply technology”. They feature high
efficiency and stability, intelligent control, small size and light weight.
The products listed in this manual are the fifth generation, which are of higher working frequency,
smaller size and lighter weight compared with past products.
Rated output voltage 220V and 110V
RS-485 interface, easy to work with automation system.
Applicable for electric and relevant industries.
§1.2 System performance
Modular design, N+1 hot backup, smooth expansion;
Intelligent design, implement automatically via serial communication the following function: on/off,
charging mode switch over, output voltage setting, output current setting, SYNC switch over and etc.
With standard RS-485 interface, easy to work with automation system, “4-remotes” function.

§1.3 Main Features

§1.4 Main Functions
1) Protection function

Output voltage protection:To prevent the disastrous accident caused by output overvoltage, there
is overvoltage protection circuit in the module. Once the output voltage is higher than the threshold,
the module locks up automatically and fault indication light is on, the faulty module quits work
automatically and doesn’t affect the normal operation of the entire system. The overvoltage
protection threshold is set in the factory, 320V±15V for 220V series, 160V±5V for 110V series.

Output current limit:The output current cannot increase infinitely. The maximum output current of
is limited to 110% of the rated output current. If over load, the output voltage will drop to protect

Short circuit protection:When short circuit, the output voltage drops to 0 immediately. Limit the

short circuit current under 15% of rated output current. The module will not be damaged under
short circuit state for a time, and resumes to work automatically after trouble shooting.

 Parallel protection:There is parallel protection circuit in each module to ensure that when the fault
module quits the system, the normal work of other modules and the system won’t be affected.

Over temperature protection:Over-temperature protection is mainly for protecting large power
components. In particular case, when the temperature of the radiator is over the threshold 85℃, the
charger module shuts down automatically to protect itself and resume to work after the temperature
comes lower 75℃.

Over current protection:to protect the high power converting components and no output if over load.
Self recoverable.
2) Synchrotrans function:the modules in same working group are of synchrotrons function to ensure
consistency of system running. They are: float/boost charging switchover, boost charging voltage
adjust, float charging voltage adjust, charging current setting.
3) Measurement and display function:measure the output voltage, output current and working state
and display on the LED screen. The user can easily get the running info of the system.
4) Fault alarm function:Display the fault code on the LED screen if any fault and the user can easily
locate the fault and remove it.

Set the output voltage by use of the buttons on the front panel. Set right output voltage according to bus,
charging state, float charging voltage, boost charging voltage and etc.


Four remotes function

Remote control:remote switch on/off, float/boost charging switchover

Remote regulation:regulate the float/boost charging voltage, current threshold and
over voltage alarm threshold;

Remote metering:measure output voltage and current;

Remote signaling:read the working state of the module
6) Communication function
Communicate with host controller and other modules parallel connected via RS485.

§2.3 Operation instruction

Digit display screen
Show the information including voltage, current, warning, OFF. Change over voltage/current display
by the option button. In case alarm, check the fault code by option button. When power off, the OFF
code displayed by pushing the option button.

Display option button
For changing the display on LED screen. When the LED screen is output voltage, the user can read
output current by pushing this option button and then come back output voltage by pushing again.
Manual voltage regulating button
The two built-in buttons on front panel are used for regulating the output voltage in manual mode. The
voltage reduces 1V when push left button“▼”. And the output voltage will rise 0.5V when push the right
button“▲”.
Remark: this button works only in manual mode.
Code switch
For choosing control mode and communication address. The definition is shown as fig.9

1.Control mode option code switch
The leftmost code button is control mode option code, used for choosing automatic control mode or
manual control mode. It is automatic control mode if this code is on the top and manual control mode if at
the bottom. Shown as fig. 9
In automatic mode, the output voltages, current limit value, ON/OFF of the module are controlled by the
host monitor and manual operation does not work. If the module is wired in switching power bus to
charge the battery, normally select the automatic mode.
In manual mode, the output voltage is regulated by the voltage regulating button mentioned above. The
output voltage, current limits value and ON/OFF of the module are not controlled by host monitor. But
those information could be transferred to the host monitor. If the module is wired in control bus and a
stable voltage output required, the module should be set in manual mode. The user can set the output
voltage manually and the current limit threshold is the 110% rated current.
In parallel working, only one module could be set in manual mode and others should be set in automatic
model.

PS:The equalized/float charge voltage must be set same in each module when
several modules work in parallel to prevent from damage the battery once host
monitor fault .
2.Grouping DIP switch
The second code button from left is grouping DIP switch (broadcast address identification code ) and
used for identifying packets groups (Broadcasting Data packet.)
if switch to the top side, the charger is in packet group 1, the broadcast address is 253, If switch to the
bottom, the charger is in packet group 2, the broadcast address is 254; the address is 255 if send data to
both groups.
3.Set DIP
The right 4 communication addresses set DIP and the broadcast address identification code are
composed of communication address set DIP switch, which is used for setting the communication
address of the module. The address is binary number, and means 0 if the DIP is on the top and means 1
if at the bottom. The rightmost code among is the lowest digit and the leftmost code is the highest digit.
For example: the set DIP is 5 digits, so the set range of communication address is 0~31. That is to say,
maximally 32 modules could be connected to one serial port of the host controller. The address is the
only sign the controller could identify each module and the address of each module must be different in
one system. For one module, the communication address setting must be same as the address setting
of the host controller module. Otherwise abnormal communication occurs. The address in controller is
decimal digit and the relation table is as follows Table 4

For example:the DIP set above highlighted in black is binary digit 10101, corresponding decimal
address is 21. This charger is in Group 2.
Voltage/current inquiry
Under voltage/current inquiry mode, switch over the display content between voltage and current on the
LED screen by use of the switchover button V/A.
If any fault, the fault information is display on the LED screen in fault code. Get the voltage display by
press the switchover button. The fault code table 5 is as follows.
