rounds of the event to be eligible to play on the second day or finals
The organising committee may grant special exemption from the provision of this resolution in
exceptional circumstances, or where grading of a player is not an influence on the result.
10. TEAM SHORTAGES
a]
When a team loses a player and therefore is short of the required number of players, they must
notify the Host Association or Tournament Organisers as soon as this has occurred prior to the
event (at least 24 hours). Failure to do this will incur loss of points for all replacement players
during the tournament.
b]
Fourteen days prior to the tournament registered association members may not replace players
themselves. All replacement players must be made by the organising association coordinator or
VBVA Secretary using the VBVA web site player ratings as per Association Policy 2.4d]
c]
If the Host Association or Tournament Organisers cannot find replacement players then Rule 14b]
shall apply. Ladies are not eligible to be placed into teams as males except by the Host
Association coordinator/organisers and only when all eligible male emergencies have been
used. Once this has been done the lady then remains with that team as a male player for
the tournament and is only eligible to fill in for another team as a male player. All other
substitute rules apply.
11. UNDER-AGE PLAYERS
Players under 35 years on 1st day of the tournament are not eligible to enter or play in any
accredited V.B.V.A. tournament.

14. SUBSTITUTE PLAYER GUIDELINES
The VBVA web site rating will be used to ascertain the grading of replacement players as
below:a]
The Host Association will display a copy of the teams in grades with both team averages & player
ratings, as close to the result board as possible.
b]
TEAMS ARRIVING SHORT OF PLAYER[S]
May use any eligible fill-in player (as per the VBVA Rating) from any team from the same or a
lower grade and from their own team, as long as the player’s rating is not stronger than the absent
player’s rating. (If an emergency could not be found and therefore never listed, then the rating will
be assumed as the “Team Average” at the time of grading)
Players from your own team may only double up twice and from other teams may only be
used twice during the tournament. Emergency fill-in players or players doubling up are not
eligible to play both games in any one match.
All emergency players must be marked as “emerg” with full name on both teams’ result
sheets.
c]
TEAMS LOSING PLAYERS DURING THE TOURNAMENT
Teams losing players due to injury etc. during the weekend may replace the player with eligible
players by using the VBVA relevant player rating from their own or other teams from the same or
lower grade as long as the replacement player has a higher rating figure (lower standard) than the
injured player.
Emergency players from other teams and own team doubling up may only be used twice
during the tournament and not both games in the same match. All emergency players must
be marked as “emerg” with full names on both teams’ result sheets.
Any variation to b] & c] can only be ratified by a VBVA Committee Member.
d]
Teams in the lowest grades at venues may not be able to use the above guide and therefore must
check with the organisers of the tournament what players they can use as fill-ins.
e]
Where there is a problem of available emergencies and/or when the extended match format is
used the VBVA Committee or Host Association coordinator may allow emergency players to play in
more than the two games per tournament.
f]
Incorrect doubling up of players and/or using the same player from another team more than twice
during the tournament will result in loss of all points scored by the ineligible player.

Any Association or Club which withdraws a team entered for a V.B.V.A. accredited Tournament or
Special event after the official draw is completed :a]

this regulation.
