Celebrating Customer Service at
the JMU Computing HelpDesk
Every year the JMU Computing HelpDesk
celebrates the importance of customer service
excellence during National Customer Service
Week, October 3rd – 7th.
Here is how we celebrated the week:
Monday – Breakfast of
Champions
For Sports Day, employees were treated to a
nutritious well-balanced breakfast to start off
Together the JMU Computing HelpDesk Team can
the day and the rest of the week! Delicious
make a difference
breads, croissants, bagels, and juices put
everyone in the mood for great customer service, and a great week.
We also sprinkled the HelpDesk with plenty of games to play for entertainment in
between the hard work—basketball hoops, mini sports balls, and board games were ready
for everyone.
Tuesday – Listen Up!
Excellent listening skills are the top quality of a successful Help Desk employee.
This year the JMU Computing HelpDesk decided to recognize and emphasize our
exquisite listening skills through an Ear Guessing Game! For several weeks leading up to
Customer Service Week each frontline employee’s ear was photographed. The
photographs were posted during Customer Service Week and everyone tried to match the
ear to its respectful owner. The winner who matched the most ears received a jar full of
delicious candy.
Wednesday – Jimmy “Buffet” Party
In the afternoon, HelpDesk employees were treated to a delectable
buffet, whose highlights include Celia famous BBQ, Mohammad’s
tropical fruit salad, and of course, PIZZA!
We also gave customers a chance to give the Analysts nicknames.
Some of these included Kevin “Twinkle-Toes”, Tom “Iron Stallion”, and Celia “Sgt.
Your Momma”!
Thursday – Ice Cream Social
To round out the week and satisfy our sweet teeth, an
extravagant ice cream social was held! Ice cream covered
in a multitude of sprinkles, syrups, and toppings were the
talk of the day at Frye.
Friday – International Day and Monthly Meeting
A decorated HelpDesk Frontline greeted employees this day,
International-style! By celebrating our differences, we are able to
more fully develop into one interdependent unit, familiar with each
other and dependable on each other!
